Though not fully understood, there is a clear and parallel relationship between the size of a city and its level of socio-economic disparity: the larger the city, the less equal it tends to be. Physical and social segregation, which both reflects and perpetuates socio-economic disparity within a city, is a growing concern in cities worldwide - including Mumbai. The long-term success of a city depends on the collective well-being of all its inhabitants. The Pape Nature Park in the south west region of Latvia is a birdwatching paradise, and home to some of the region’s most unique and majestic species found in the wild. Archistart promotes the second Architectural Thesis Award, the international thesis award, launched with the aim of promoting, rewarding and giving visibility to young talents in architecture. A call for entries is now being made for the Tenth European Prize for Urban Public Space, 2018. Since 2000 this biennial honorific award has aimed to recognise, promote and publicise examples of good practice in dealing with the many challenges faced by public spaces in European cities. The Prize aims to support the open, compact city of universal access, guaranteeing harmonious coexistence among its citizens, a mixture of uses, and sustainable mobility, preserving the historical memory of places, and favouring participation of citizens in projects designing shared spaces.

Bringing levity to a practice so burdened by seriousness, the architectural circular pulp publishes one cartoon each week. Cartoons must be topical, humorous, and vaguely architectural.
