Text description provided by the architects. This unique site is situated in the heart of the ancient Cinque Port town of Rye. The site was formally an industrial site which was demolished in 2002 leaving a derelict infill site in the town centre. The site also has the remains of the medieval town walls running through the site which are protected as a scheduled ancient monument. Significant archaeological digs and studies were carried out to inform the design parameters and to avoid disruption to the remains.
