Foster + Partners has submitted plans for a new “Health Education Campus” in Cleveland, Ohio. The 485,000-square-foot quadrangle building is designed to foster collaboration between the students of Case Western Reserve University and the Cleveland Clinic on the medical campus’ existing 11-acre parcel at East 93rd Street between Euclid and Chester Avenues.
“Collaboration among the professions is the key to improving health care in the 21st century,” School of Dental Medicine Dean Kenneth B. Chance, DDS, said. “This project gives us an extraordinary opportunity to provide all of our students the kinds of experiences that will allow them to excel in this rapidly evolving landscape.”
The four-story building's “state-of-the-art” classrooms and laboratory spaces surround an expansive, sun-lit atrium at the building’s core. Here, flexible dining and study areas provided for students are designed to be cleared away to accommodate large events, such as lectures, convocations and banquets.
The Health Education Campus will serve over 2,500 nursing, dental and medical students. It aims to achieve LEED Silver upon completion.
