The city of Helsinki has announced plans for a design and build competition for a new commercial and residential district in Pasila, near the city centre. The competition, which calls for 8-10 buildings of 15 stories or more, will be part of the city's drive to make Pasila the "second centre of Helsinki," with a total of 150,000-200,000 square metres of residential and office space planned for the district. Read on after the break to find out more about the competition.

The city is seeking a developer and design team, with the winner chosen on the basis of design quality. Those interested in being considered for the competition will have the opportunity to learn more at a competition seminar on December 3, after which interested teams will be able to organize a private meeting with the competition organizers. Selected teams will then be invited to draw up proposals beginning in September 2015.

To learn more about the competition, visit the City of Helsinki's news release. Contact details for enquiries about the Pasila district can be found here.
