The Wave in Vejle, Denmark designed by Henning Larsen Architectsis a new unique housing that embraces the sculptural and organic forms to become a new landmark for the city. It takes advantage of both its location and the views it offers, while equally challenging the existing architecture of the area and its program as a housing complex.
Songdo International Business District (IBD) occupies over 1,500 acres of reclaimed land on the West Coast of Incheon, Korea. This waterfront master plan includes a diverse array of programmatic elements and is designed to be a pedestrian friendly city with walkable streets and an urban density that allows for an active street life. Signature features include, the New Songdo City First World Towers, Northeast Asia Trade Tower, the 100-arce Songdo Central Park, and the Songdo City International School.
STUDIOMARCOVERMEULEN was rewarded with honorable mention for in the d3 Housing Tomorrow Competition for their project entitled “Living Landscape.” The central theme for the design is the landscape experience, with a study of the traditional Dutch housing as a typological precedent.
Finnish design team, ALA Architects has shared with us their latest commission, a mixed use project in Helsinki, Cloud City. Seeking to take advantage of available space within the urban core, this unique project brings density to a underutilized courtyard within a large existing factory block. The following projects were selected by insulation specialist Saint-Gobain Isover as the eight shortlisted projects for the UK final of the Multi-Comfort House Competition. The competition produced many interesting solutions to the problem of urban development and energy efficient construction for high rise buildings.
