The Paris Agreement is an international treaty on climate change. Adopted by 196 countries in Paris on December 12, 2015, it entered into force on November 4, 2016. Its goal is to limit global warming to well below 2 degrees Celsius—preferably 1.5 degrees—compared to pre-industrial levels.
