The Mayor's Office of Bogotá, through the Bogotá Urban Renewal and Development Company (ERU) and with the guidance and expertise of the Colombian Society of Architects (SCA), is launching an architectural competition to determine how the San Juan de Dios Hospital Complex (CHSJD) will be integrated with the surrounding neighborhoods and the city center, focusing on its public space and internal foundational gardens.
These entities have established the guidelines for the competition, which aims to contribute to the conservation, intervention, and enhancement of the heritage system comprising the San Juan de Dios Hospital Complex—a National and District Cultural Heritage Site. In compliance with the Special Management and Protection Plan (PEMP), the initiative supports the revitalization of Bogotá's city center for the benefit of local residents, associated communities, and the general public.
The competition seeks to develop preliminary design solutions for the complex's gardens and open spaces, based on an understanding of the historical processes that shaped the heritage, environmental, and landscape values of the San Juan de Dios Hospital Complex.
