Tokyo and New York-based Ippodo Gallery presents “Susumu Shingu: Sculpting with Wind” from October 20–December 29. The exhibition will feature the work of revered and prolific 85-year-old Japanese kinetic sculptor and artist Susumu Shingu. A philosopher at heart, the celebrated artist is a long-time collaborator with Renzo Piano and other leading architects on site-specific installations. His work can be found in museums, luxury hotels, and public installations across the globe. The gallery is located at 32 E. 67th Street on the Upper East Side.

The Architecture Film Festival Rotterdam, the world’s biggest film festival about urban affairs and the built environment, will take place for the fourteenth time in Rotterdam, the city of architecture. From 5 to 9 October 2022, Theater Zuidplein and LantarenVenster are the places to be for everybody who wants to be carried away by the best documentaries, the most exciting feature films and the most fascinating shorts about the city and architecture.

In a programme full of premieres and previously undiscovered films, filmmakers answer all your questions, experts offer illuminating introductions, and people involved discuss the big issues. Also included are masterclasses, a VR lounge, shorts programmes and film classics. For those who cannot choose, there is a Best of AFFR on Sunday.

Critical Carbon: Rethinking Energy and Heritage in the Asia Pacific

The World Around has launched an open call for applications to its inaugural Young Climate Prize. The prize has been designed to invest in the generation born into the climate crisis, and provide visibility, support and mentorship for 25 of the world’s most talented and passionate climate designers under the age of 25. We are looking for young people who are working on their own self-started projects that address, draw attention to or mitigate climate change in their community. The chosen applicants will join a bespoke academy and each be mentored by one of our extraordinary Design Champions – the world’s leading climate-change-focused designers, museum directors, curators, writers and business leaders.
