AIA Connecticut, in collaboration with the CT Green Building Council and the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) is hosting their very first Net Zero Schools Summit at the Yale School of Architecture. Architects, designers and sheet metal contractors are invited to submit their copper building projects for the 2020 North American Copper in Architecture (NACIA) awards program. The program recognizes and promotes architectural copper and copper alloy structures in North America. Eligible projects must feature a significant application of architectural copper, be located in the North America and have been completed within the past three years.

Winners will receive a custom copper plaque featuring an etching of their award-winning project. Projects will be featured on the Copper Development Association’s website and promoted in various publications.

A $5,000 fellowship awarded for study of historic and architecturally significant residences in LA County. Reports and research findings, and other content developed by FORT Fellows, will be added to the Discovery Center and linked to Trails maps as applicable.

DESIGN, TECHNOLOGY & SOCIAL INNOVATION WORKSHOP

The MIT India Initiative is a not-for-profit effort of students and alumni from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to delve into pressing problems in novel, challenging contexts, and tackle these with technology and design. This is a first of its kind workshop where mentors from multiple departments of MIT and Harvard will work with talented participants chosen from all across India to design solutions to some of today's most pressing challenges.

The workshop will be held in Mumbai, India facilitating participants to work on solutions that cut across boundaries of cultures, disciplines, and institutions.

Penelope Haralambidou's project 'City of Ladies' studies 'The Book of the City of Ladies', 1405, by Italian/French medieval author Christine de Pizan (1364 – c.1430). The text is part of a compilation assembled for Queen Isabeau of Bavaria between 1410 – 1414 (Harley MS 4431) the largest surviving collected manuscript of her works and one of the foundation manuscripts at the British Library. The European Parliament has launched an Architectural competition with the purpose of choosing the best concept for its plenary building in Brussels – The Paul Henri Spaak building.

The competition will be staged in two phases, a first phase of call for applications, and a second phase of development of conceptual proposals with 25 candidates selected after the first phase.

Named in honor of the architect and educator Doug Garofalo (1958–2011), the nine-month fellowship provides emerging designers the opportunity to teach design studio and seminar courses and conduct independent research, culminating in a public lecture at the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts and an exhibition or public conversation at the school.

The Ceramics of Italy 2020 Tile Competition awards top North American architects and designers for their exceptional work and creative use of Italian ceramic or porcelain tile in built projects around the world. An international jury of design experts will review submissions from all over the continent and ultimately select winners in four categories - residential, commercial, institutional, and student.
