Saratov, a Russian city on the Volga River, has launched an International Competition to determine the Best Integrated Spatial Development Concepts for the Development of the City Centre. Saratov is a city located in the southeastern European portion of Russia, a major cultural and economic centre of the Volga region. This open international competition will determine the best concept for integrated development of 5 sites in the central part of the city: the former Saratov-Tsentralny (Saratov-Central) Airport, the Park Pobedy (Victory Park) Memorial Complex on Sokolovaya Gora, Zeleny Island, Glebuchev Ovrag (Glebuchev Ravine) and the Pokrovskie Peski (Pokrovsky Sands) Island.

The objective of the first Greater Bay Area Urban Design Awards (GBA Urban Design Awards) is to elevate the overall urban design standard in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) through recognition of excellence in urban design related projects in the GBA and foster collaboration and exchange among urban designers, planners, architects, landscape architects, engineers, surveyors and other urban design professionals, companies and organisations in the GBA.

The Wave is one such surreal looking sandstone rock formation on the slopes of Coyote Buttes in the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness near the Arizona-Utah border.

Bridging Yongxin Old City Wenxing Bridge International Design Competition focus on “Bridging”. The theme of the competition is a bridge complex. Careful consideration is needed especially the real site environment near Heshui River, since the main subject Wenxing Bridge will later work as a link, connects the key locations along the river like Linjiang Building and Hunan-Jiangxi Wharf and stitches the banks of Heshui River Blocks and landscape belts when it is implemented. The competition is open to designers and students worldwide and it is aiming to collect original designs under the schemes of a bridge complex with merits like foresight, creativity, and implementation.

Exhibition-Competition included in the programme of the XVI World Biennale of Architecture - Interarch 2020, 25-28 October, Sofia, Bulgaria. CAC docent Marcia Matavulj dives into this apparent contradiction by exploring Burnham’s architectural practice during Chicago’s fast-moving progression from short buildings with load-bearing walls to steel-framed skyscrapers never seen before.
