It has been 20 years since Professor Carlos Sambricio proposed the idea of recovering, within the Spanish landscape, what we wish to call "the secondary figures"—those architects who, for various reasons, did not enjoy significant critical success during their professional practice, but whose work, when revisited in light of the years that have passed, raises issues of interest to us today.

The Glasgow Institute of Architects, in collaboration with the Hamilton Mausoleum Trust, are launching an exciting design ideas competition in June 2020 for the iconic Hamilton Mausoleum and Keeper’s Lodge, located in the Low Parks in South Lanarkshire, Scotland.

This year, Open House Madrid will host a Special Edition that focuses on the city's immense and often unknown urban wealth, with a particular emphasis on opening the doors—both real and virtual—to its most iconic and unique buildings and urban spaces. The Wave is one such surreal looking sandstone rock formation on the slopes of Coyote Buttes in the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness near the Arizona-Utah border.

Bridging Yongxin Old City Wenxing Bridge International Design Competition focus on “Bridging”. The theme of the competition is a bridge complex. Careful consideration is needed especially the real site environment near Heshui River, since the main subject Wenxing Bridge will later work as a link, connects the key locations along the river like Linjiang Building and Hunan-Jiangxi Wharf and stitches the banks of Heshui River Blocks and landscape belts when it is implemented. The competition is open to designers and students worldwide and it is aiming to collect original designs under the schemes of a bridge complex with merits like foresight, creativity, and implementation.

Exhibition-Competition included in the programme of the XVI World Biennale of Architecture - Interarch 2020, 25-28 October, Sofia, Bulgaria. All participating projects will be exhibited during the event. International Honorary Awards, as well as Laureate Diplomas will be presented by an International Jury.

A prolific architect, trailblazing city planner, and civic and cultural leader, Daniel Burnham has been described by contemporaries and biographers as both a pragmatic realist and a visionary idealist. CAC docent Marcia Matavulj dives into this apparent contradiction by exploring Burnham’s architectural practice during Chicago’s fast-moving progression from short buildings with load-bearing walls to steel-framed skyscrapers never seen before.

YAC - Young Architects Competitions - ​ launches HYPERLOOP DESERT CAMPUS, a competition of ideas aiming to design a new test center for the Hyperloop technology. Open House Madrid is an architecture and city festival that, over the course of a weekend, offers free access to dozens of buildings that are usually closed to the public.

For 2020, Open House Madrid has designed a Special Edition that, under the theme "Rediscover Madrid," will focus on the city as a benchmark for architecture and design.
