IED Talks: Multi Munari – Molti Munari

On August 29, the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) in São Paulo will host the second edition of IED Parla, a series of open forums where IED coordinators and faculty invite design professionals to engage in discussions that bridge the gap between speakers and the audience. In partnership with the Istituto Italiano di Cultura (IIC), this edition features Alberto Salvadori, curator of the Munari exhibition, and Rafael Toledo, coordinator of the Product and Service Design undergraduate program at IED São Paulo, for a conversation on the contributions of Italian artist and designer Bruno Munari.

II Workshop Gustavo Penna 73/23 | Comprehensive City – A New Vision for the Metropolis

On August 26 and 27, the second workshop of the project will take place, themed: “Comprehensive City – A New Vision of the Metropolis.” The proposal is to reflect on the issues surrounding large metropolises in the 21st century, focusing primarily on the perspective of people, the connections created between them and the city, and, above all, how architects, as professionals, can act as mediators in the challenges of the contemporary city.

On August 30, 2019, the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology (BIFT) Architecture and Design Workshop exhibition opened at the Aedes/ANCB in Berlin, Germany. The workshop team was led by Che Fei (BIFT), with support from Zhang Xuefeng (CU office), Li Weihan (BIFT), and 11 students from BIFT.

Event at Casa Firjan launches the program for the 27th World Congress of Architects

Twenty thousand architects from around the world will come to Rio de Janeiro in 2020 for three mega-events, 12 seminars, more than 50 art exhibitions and cultural initiatives, and competitions for students and young professionals. All of this will revolve around the 27th World Congress of Architects (UIA2020RIO), which will even incorporate some of the world's most famous celebrations, such as New Year's Eve on Copacabana Beach and the Rio Carnival.

The launch of the first ARQ DOCS of 2019 will take place on August 27, featuring Alejandro Crispiani, an architect from the National University of La Plata (Argentina), 1984, and a Doctor of Human and Social Sciences from the National University of Quilmes (Argentina), 2009. The event will feature commentary from architects Pía Montealegre and Teodoro Fernández.

Book launch of Gustavo Penna 73/83

On August 23 at 7:00 PM, at IAB SP, the project Gustavo Penna 73/23 – 50 Years of Architecture, Design, and Word will launch the first volume of a five-book collection to be produced through 2023. Titled Gustavo Penna 73/83, the book covers the architect’s first decade of work, including their mentors, professional colleagues, and the early years of the firm, assembling a vast chronological puzzle.

National Seminar of Architecture and Urbanism Model Offices - SeNEMAU

The National Seminar of Model Offices of Architecture and Urbanism (SeNEMAU) is an event where members of EMAUs (Model Offices of Architecture and Urbanism) from across the country gather to discuss, exchange experiences, and refine the model of education and university extension, where production is primarily focused on issues involving the democratization of architecture. Like the EMAU itself, SeNEMAU is an event conceived and promoted by the FeNEA (National Federation of Architecture and Urbanism Students). It has been held annually since 1997, organized by students involved with the EMAUs alongside faculty advisors. The seminar program consists of activities that foster a collective experience of exchange and learning, such as presentations of work from the model offices, practical workshops, lectures, roundtables, and direct engagement and intervention in urban spaces.
