On August 29, the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) in São Paulo will host the second edition of IED Parla, a series of open forums where IED coordinators and faculty invite design professionals to engage in discussions that bridge the gap between speakers and the audience. In partnership with the Istituto Italiano di Cultura (IIC), this edition features Alberto Salvadori, curator of the Munari exhibition, and Rafael Toledo, coordinator of the Product and Service Design undergraduate program at IED São Paulo, for a conversation on the contributions of Italian artist and designer Bruno Munari.

The 11th Scientific Initiation Symposium at Escola da Cidade – Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism will take place on October 29 and 30. Submissions for presentation will be accepted until September 20.

On August 26 and 27, the second workshop of the project will take place, themed: “Comprehensive City – A New Vision of the Metropolis.” The proposal is to reflect on the issues surrounding large metropolises in the 21st century, focusing primarily on the perspective of people, the connections created between them and the city, and, above all, how architects, as professionals, can act as mediators in the challenges of the contemporary city.

On August 30, 2019, the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology (BIFT) Architecture and Design Workshop exhibition opened at the Aedes/ANCB in Berlin, Germany. The workshop team was led by Che Fei (BIFT), with support from Zhang Xuefeng (CU office), Li Weihan (BIFT), and 11 students from BIFT.

Do architects know how to write? Can they present their projects textually? How should one write about architectural projects? There are no exact recipes or formulas for writing well; however, literature and journalism offer insights that help in crafting clear texts.

Twenty thousand architects from around the world will come to Rio de Janeiro in 2020 for three mega-events, 12 seminars, more than 50 art exhibitions and cultural initiatives, and competitions for students and young professionals. All of this will revolve around the 27th World Congress of Architects (UIA2020RIO), which will even incorporate some of the world's most famous celebrations, such as New Year's Eve on Copacabana Beach and the Rio Carnival.

The launch of the first ARQ DOCS of 2019 will take place on August 27, featuring Alejandro Crispiani, an architect from the National University of La Plata (Argentina), 1984, and a Doctor of Human and Social Sciences from the National University of Quilmes (Argentina), 2009. The event will feature commentary from architects Pía Montealegre and Teodoro Fernández.

The social function of architecture and the challenges of the profession in the context of a new era will be the subject of a lecture by Rio de Janeiro native Tainá de Paula.

On August 23 at 7:00 PM, at IAB SP, the project Gustavo Penna 73/23 – 50 Years of Architecture, Design, and Word will launch the first volume of a five-book collection to be produced through 2023. Titled Gustavo Penna 73/83, the book covers the architect’s first decade of work, including their mentors, professional colleagues, and the early years of the firm, assembling a vast chronological puzzle.

August is approaching, and with it, our "Architecture Meetings" return.

For those unfamiliar, the idea behind these meetings is to discuss contemporary Brazilian architectural production, organized by theme. The conversation will feature professionals active in the field of architecture and will be moderated by an external guest or a member of the group formed by IABsp to curate this activity.

A project by TÁCTI.CO Taller de Arquitectura, led by Juan Pablo Astudillo Cordero, which seeks to reinforce, generate, and exchange knowledge and perspectives among professionals, students, and the general public. This transdisciplinary effort will undoubtedly enhance the participants' skills.

Japanese architecture, a global benchmark, is once again in the spotlight at Japan House São Paulo, this time with an exhibition detailing the work of Tsuyoshi Tane, a prominent Japanese architect on the current global stage. "Tsuyoshi Tane | Archaeology of the Future – Memory & Vision" runs from August 6 to October 13, 2019, and invites visitors to dive into the architect's creative project development process.

The National Seminar of Model Offices of Architecture and Urbanism (SeNEMAU) is an event where members of EMAUs (Model Offices of Architecture and Urbanism) from across the country gather to discuss, exchange experiences, and refine the model of education and university extension, where production is primarily focused on issues involving the democratization of architecture. Like the EMAU itself, SeNEMAU is an event conceived and promoted by the FeNEA (National Federation of Architecture and Urbanism Students). It has been held annually since 1997, organized by students involved with the EMAUs alongside faculty advisors. The seminar program consists of activities that foster a collective experience of exchange and learning, such as presentations of work from the model offices, practical workshops, lectures, roundtables, and direct engagement and intervention in urban spaces.

The architecture sector is currently an important field for photographers. Believing that new techniques and proper visual direction can provide a competitive edge to those interested in architectural and urban photography, Linda Laranja Fotografia is hosting the Architecture and City Photography Workshop in Florianópolis, led by Brasília-based architect and photographer Joana França.

For Paris Design Week, taking place from September 5 to 14, 2019, in Paris, maison marcoux mexico is pleased to occupy the display windows of the Cultural Institute of Mexico from August 30 to September 17, 2019. The 9 pieces of the Mezcalienne collection, conceived by Constance Guisset and staged by the designer herself, will be presented there.

The fourth edition of the International Urban Interventions Forum (FIIU) will bring together urban experts, policymakers, citizens, collectives, and international networks of activists interested in reclaiming public space and its use. Furthermore, this year, FIIU will host the 3rd Placemaking Latinoamérica meeting, a global movement that has been bringing together professionals and activists from Latin American countries for two years.

Espacio AOA will host a discussion on the project "La Luz del Cochayuyo" on Tuesday, August 6, at 7:00 PM, featuring architects Domingo Arancibia, Alberto Sato, and Guillermo Acuña.
