Japanese architecture, a global benchmark, is once again in the spotlight at Japan House São Paulo, this time with an exhibition detailing the work of Tsuyoshi Tane, a prominent Japanese architect on the current global stage. "Tsuyoshi Tane | Archaeology of the Future – Memory & Vision" runs from August 6 to October 13, 2019, and invites visitors to dive into the architect's creative project development process.
Located on the second floor of the cultural center, the exhibition portrays Tane's creative universe. In total, 15 projects created between 2006 and 2019 are presented through 600 objects, including five large-scale models, study models, and a wide variety of materials and artifacts found at each project site. Furthermore, approximately 2,000 images occupy the exhibition space, from the walls to the floor. All items are part of Tane's working process, through which he conducts archaeological research following his "Archaeology of the Future" manifesto. He seeks local histories and references to inform each concept, which in turn serve as inspiration for the future. Within this logic, his architecture manifests the memories of the place as a guiding principle for his projects.
