Het Nieuwe Instituut announces an open call for three research fellows to work in residence from September 2018 to February 2019, with the title: BURN-OUT

Designregio Kortrijk is looking for 3 highly motivated and recently graduated designer-makers or creative artists to join in a regional residency programme in Kortrijk, Belgium.
The Designers in Residence Programme Kortrijk is a 3-month full time working residency from September to December 2018.

Indoors frame how we grow - how we dwell - how we live. They are an inseparable part to a human life and furniture form a very crucial component of how this experience grows on us.

Join us at the Summer Lab in Favara, Sicily, Italy from 4th to 10th June 2018. According to the Right to Water an installation will be constructed in the historical center of the city and presented during the Farm Cultural Park Festival. The workshop will be an intense design & craft studio, with eight tutors coming from all over the world assisting you in the making of a small scale architecture.

Site - Te pirate Tower
The pirate tower, in Ibiza, is one of the most famous defensive constructions on the island, which every year attracts hundreds of tourists who want to visit the well-known defense tower. Its true name is the Torre de Es Savinar or Cap d’es Jueu, and it is the highest tower in Ibiza, although its main attraction is that from the top of the tower you can enjoy a unique view of the islet of Es Vedrà and It is Vedranell, and you can even see the massif of Montgó de Denia on the clearest days.
Being a defensive construction, the area has cliffs, areas with a softer slope and last areas in direct contact with the sea in its lower part, exactly the lower bay. That is why the place of intervention to develop the proposal will be totally free where the contestant must choose how to settle their architecture and get the most out of the place by choosing what kind of strategy to follow.

The Society of Architectural Historians is now accepting abstracts for its 72nd Annual International Conference in Providence, Rhode Island, April 24–28. Please submit an abstract no later than 11:59 p.m. CDT on June 5, 2018, to one of the 34 thematic sessions, the Graduate Student Lightning Talks or the Open Sessions. Architecture and Urbanism Research Academy (AURA) Istanbul would like to invite you to join its inspiring Summer Academy, "Istanbul: Past, Present, and Future".

Now in its sixth year, CONNECT highlights innovative design programs at universities throughout the country. Students, under the supervision of university faculty, have the opportunity to design environments that incorporate seating and lighting installations, with the intention of offering an intimate area on the show floor where attendees can sit, relax and "connect." Mumbai stands as the wealthiest city in India and is well-known for its diverse culture and is considered a melting pot of several cultures and communities. Traffic congestion remains a major apprehension despite the progress in technological fields concerning public transportation. With a present population of over 21 million, the city generates more than 17 million trips in a day. Majority of Mumbaikars depend on local trains and buses as their means of egress.

This summer school is concerned with the application of decision supports system based on Geographic Information Systems in the urban planning process which is essentially concerned with the overall development of an area with regards to design, environmental aspects of development, transportation and more.

A few kilometers at the South East of Orange, in the municipality of Courthézon, the Château de Beaucastel vineyard spreads over 130 hectares. The vineyard, where legendary wines are produced, is the jewel of the Perrin Family, already famous among wine lovers in France and worldwide. 

The castle has kept extending since the mansion was built by Pierre de Beaucastel at the heart of the estate, in the XVIIth century. Various extensions were made in order to suit the owners’ needs along time until the castle got its actual shape. This composite assembly includes buildings whose architectural quality is not always consistent with that of the wines stored therein.

Considering this situation, the Perrin Family, motivated by a need for space linked with the development of their business, wishes to take advantage of this need to extend the estate in order to consider an overall renovation project.

On Monday, 1 October 2018, people everywhere will celebrate World Architecture Day 2018. Countries all around the globe will highlight the importance of architecture through events, exhibits, lectures and other activities, for the profession and the public.
