Growarq Week is an event dedicated to architects, engineers, designers, and students looking to revolutionize their design process through a methodology that combines two software programs: Revit and Lumion. The event will take place from June 27 to 30 at 7:00 PM and will be held entirely online.

With over 20 years of practice, the architecture firm MMBB has been developing a precise and consistent body of work. From their extensive portfolio, characterized by a wide range of uses, scales, and typologies, as well as a strong emphasis on the public dimension of architecture, eight projects were selected by editor Guilherme Wisnik for the most recent publication dedicated to the firm: the Arquitetos da Cidade (City Architects) Collection – MMBB, a partnership between the Escola da Cidade publishing house and Edições Sesc São Paulo. The launch will take place on Friday, June 24, at 7:30 PM at Escola da Cidade, featuring a book signing. During the event, the book will be available for purchase with a 20% discount. To purchase it online, visit: https://editora.escoladacidade.edu.br/produto/mmbb/

International Architecture Competition

The inaugural ‘Roots & Dreams’ International Sustainable Architecture Competition challenges participants to design a residence on a 1,000 m² plot, with a maximum construction area of 200 m². Proposals must align with three pillars of sustainable architecture: biomimicry (nature-inspired), bioclimatic design (considering the local context of the Quintana Roo jungle), and the use of local materials and low-impact ecotechnologies.
Participants may enter individually or in teams of up to five members.

United by blood and artistic ties, Roma Drumond, Pedro, and Antonio Tebyriçá—mother, father, and son—present their work in “TRIANGULAR,” which opens on June 6 at 6:00 PM. Their paintings and sculptures will occupy the Galeria Patrícia Costa, with the exhibition curated by Denise Mattar.

Following the ceremony, three visiting Italian professors, all graduates of the IUAV Doctoral School in Architectural History, will present lectures.

Gypsum Concrete
Arquitectura en Corto invites you to the screening of Gypsum Concrete, which will take place on Thursday, June 13, at 7:00 PM at the Roca Barcelona Gallery (c/Joan Güell, 211). Directed by Simon Pénochet, the short film documents the research conducted by the French architecture studio Ciguë to replace cement with gypsum in floor screeds for a project in Montreuil, Paris. Gypsum is a material with a long history of use throughout the Paris region; it is recyclable and readily available through urban mining processes. A series of tests on samples produced by Ciguë, combined with a comparative life cycle analysis, demonstrate that this material is a viable alternative that drastically reduces CO2 emissions. Following the screening, architect Sara Ferran, a partner at taller11—where they are currently conducting similar research—and Albert Sagrera, an architect, environmental consultant, and co-founder of Societat Orgànica, will lead a discussion. Sagrera is an expert in the environmental impact of materials, life cycle assessment, and construction waste management.
