The Center for Contemporary Architecture Studies at the School of Architecture and Urban Studies of the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella is hosting, with the support of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, a traveling iteration of the exhibition Foodscapes, the Spanish Pavilion at the 2023 Venice Architecture Biennale, curated by Eduardo Castillo-Vinuesa and Manuel Ocaña.
Every time we eat, we connect our palates to a multitude of remote places: supermarkets, greenhouses, farms, warehouses, logistics networks, cold chains, landfills... Despite their immense importance, these nondescript architectures rarely receive the attention they deserve. In a world where the molecular becomes tectonic and every bite reverberates across the planet, it is now more urgent than ever to redesign our food systems with their ecosystemic implications in mind.
By eating, we digest territories. Foodscapes is a journey into the architectures that feed the world: from the domestic laboratories of our kitchens to the vast operational landscapes that nourish our cities.
