“Cerros Isla de Santiago: Constructing a New Urban Imaginary Through Its Geography” is a publication for documentation and dissemination that seeks to raise awareness and highlight the natural and cultural heritage of the valley present in Santiago's 26 island hills. The book develops a dual narrative—one visual and one written—in which two photographers and seven academics and professionals explore the subject of the island hills from their respective fields of expertise. The book also includes fact sheets for each of the 26 island hills, compiling the survey and documentation work carried out by the Cerros Isla Foundation.

Spanish architect Javier García Solera will present the lecture "(Para) qué dibujar" at GO Galería de Oficios, an event organized by TÁCTI.CO Taller de Arquitectura as part of the programming for the open school "Taller Común."

Good news: new spots have opened for TSL PERU 2018! The 15th Latin American Social Workshop for Architecture Students will be held in Chucuito, a small city within Puno, considered the folkloric capital of Peru and the Americas. The event will feature various academic and sociocultural activities that will connect Latin American architecture students with the richness and needs of the local reality. This engaging workshop will take place from March 22 to April 2; registration closes on January 31.

Specialized Film Screening Series.
The goal of this ongoing series of art films and documentaries related to architecture and design is to foster cultural dissemination and create a critical discourse surrounding our profession. By hosting panels with colleagues in a cultural and recreational setting, we aim to promote the association to new affiliates and attract new members.

Kindergarten Rehabilitation in Bolivia is an open competition for all students and young architects worldwide. For this fourth edition, ARCHsharing is collaborating with TECHO Bolivia on the construction of a kindergarten in a neighborhood of Santa Cruz de la Sierra. The kindergarten will accommodate up to 500 children. To address this challenge, the restoration of an old school and an expansion will be required.
The winning project will be built by our partner, TECHO Bolivia.

Council of Architecture and Urbanism of Rio de Janeiro hosts debate "Architecture: A Feminine Noun"

The objective is to discuss the integration of women architects and urban planners into the professional market, how to make cities safer for women to navigate, harassment, and other related topics.

Organized by the National Association of Ceramic Tile, Sanitary Ware, and Related Products Manufacturers (ANFACER), Expo Revestir presents a lecture featuring architects Toyo Ito and Paulo Mendes da Rocha at the Transamerica Expo Center in São Paulo.

INSÒLIT is a festival of ephemeral interventions in the courtyards of Palma de Mallorca, Spain, that aims to promote the city's rich architectural heritage through creative, ephemeral actions.

INSÒLIT is a cross-disciplinary event that uses cultural action to address and connect three key aspects of the Mallorca region: culture, heritage, and creativity. The festival focuses its efforts on Palma's Old Town, where these three factors converge.

For the third time, the Lisbon Architecture Triennale presents the Début Award, aimed at architects or architecture studios in the early stages of their careers, to celebrate their work and propel their professional trajectory.

Registration is now open for the 2018 IBRAMEM AMATA Timber Architecture Award, with categories for both professionals and students. Students of engineering, architecture, and urban planning, as well as professionals in these fields from all Latin American countries, are eligible to apply.

BNKR Arquitectura is an architecture, urbanism, and research firm based in Mexico City, founded by Esteban Suárez in 2005. BNKR is a multidisciplinary practice composed of architects, urban planners, and designers. They provide unique, unconventional solutions to specific problems, moving beyond the pursuit of a particular style or signature. The Institute of Architecture and Urbanism at the Faculty of Architecture and Arts of the Universidad Austral de Chile invites submissions for the Marta Scheu Torres Award. Now in its third edition, this award recognizes a woman who has made a significant contribution to the fields of architecture and urbanism through social work, disciplinary practice, innovation, or other areas of interest that have been meaningful to the development of the country's southern region.

The Mataró City Council (Barcelona province) has launched an ideas competition to revitalize and boost the city center.

The objective of the competition is to "design a strategy and a model that includes economic, urban planning, architectural, and mobility actions, as well as economic, cultural, and social revitalization efforts, to promote the center as a hub for cultural, commercial, and tourist activity, integrated within a unified vision that highlights its historical and heritage legacy."

Since its inception, the LIMAPOLIS workshop has been a research and design studio characterized by constant experimentation with issues relevant to Lima's architectural reality, aiming to spark debate and provide strategies for creating better architecture. In this eighth edition, “Toward a Specific Generic” focuses on studying Lima's geoclimatic conditions, considering how the city has historically responded to them in a detached manner, to move toward an architecture more pertinent to the local reality. This theme was proposed by organizers Gary Leggett, Augusto Román, and Paulo Dam from the PUCP Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism, where the event will take place from March 5 to 10.

With this shared vision, the organizers have invited prominent international architects: Juan Ignacio Baixas (Baixas y del Río Arquitectos, Chile), Teodoro Fernández (Teodoro Fernández Arquitectos, Chile), Javier García Germán (Totem Arquitectos Asociados, Spain), and Renaud Haerlingen and Raphael Bach (Rotor, Belgium). Drawing on their expertise and specialties, they will guide the discourse on the city through four specific themes: structure, landscape, envelope, and light/color.
