The 1st Pan-American ArquitectAs FPAA Forum: The Professional Practice of Women Architects as a Collective Construction will take place on March 15.

Within the academic dialogue and reflection space ‘Del territorio al Detalle’—which brings together architecture professors, students, and renowned architects—the spin-off “Del territorio al detalle .re” explores, through informal conversations with key stakeholders, the thesis that a territory’s richness stems from its capacity for renewal, activating disused spaces to transform them into challenges and resources.

Design media have always been fundamental in shaping our understanding of what constitutes good design. Beyond their aesthetic value, these publications serve as a source of inspiration, information, and cross-pollination; furthermore, they influence what we value and think about design. Design media have the power to highlight stories they deem important, amplify or silence certain voices, and challenge or reinforce specific ideas.

LIGA 36, featuring Isidoro Michan-Guindi, opens on Thursday, March 2, at 7:00 p.m. The event will be held at Laguna, located at Calle Doctor Erazo 176, Colonia Doctores, and is free and open to the public. Key projects will be presented through models in various formats, complemented by a series of images that provide insight into the architect's process through brief glimpses of their studio. The opening will feature a lecture by Michan-Guindi, moderated by Wonne Ickx (Productora + LIGA).

José Pinto Duarte, leader of the finalist team for the NASA Mars Habitat Challenge, will be in Chile from March 12 to 14 to deliver lectures in Santiago and Concepción.

Currently focused on developing new housing solutions using 3D-printed construction, drawing on the experience gained from the space competition, Dr. Pinto Duarte—a faculty member at Penn State University and former researcher at MIT—will deliver two lectures. He will also engage with national teams implementing this technology in the country and visit local companies currently industrializing residential construction.

International Meeting: Thinking and Making the City in Latin America

The NBR9050: Accessibility and Inclusion Workshop is a project carried out in partnership with Maitá ATHIS and funded by the Council of Architecture and Urbanism (CAU). It aims to train architecture and urban planning professionals to apply NBR 9050 and 16537 standards through theoretical and practical activities. These activities contextualize these regulations within the promotion of fundamental rights, in accordance with the CAU Code of Ethics, which seeks to ensure that human needs regarding functionality, cost-effectiveness, durability, comfort, hygiene, and accessibility in the built environment are met.

Observations and studies on art, architecture, design, cinema, photography, and literature, grounded in the premises established by Soviet Constructivism—from Aleksei Gan’s 1922 theorization to the transformations and interpretations developed by artists and architects like Rodchenko and Leonidov by the end of that decade, and their enduring influence today.
