7th Latin American Building Simulation Congress

This event will feature various papers on different perspectives of simulation applied to performance analysis across a wide range of building types, fostering a rich debate on the present and future of this resource.

BOOMSPDESIGN: Retrofit Panel

BOOMSPDESIGN, an event part of DW!, will take place at one of the city's most iconic landmarks: the Copan Building. On March 13, Thiago Rodrigues, partner and architect at Superlimão, will participate in a thematic panel to discuss the relevance and challenges of retrofit projects. Joining Thiago in the discussion are Beto Cocenza (creator of BOOMSPDESIGN) and Maxime Barkatz, founder of Ilion Partners, a real estate investment fund focused on building revitalization.

Exhibition "Dialects of the Firmament"

Starting March 2, 2023, at 7:00 PM, Anita Schwartz Galeria de Arte presents the exhibition "Dialetos do Firmamento" (Dialects of the Firmament). Featuring works by artists Bonikta, Ivan Grilo, Jeane Terra, Rochelle Costi, Shen Özdemir, Thiago Costa, and Zé Tepedino, the exhibition explores diverse worldviews, invented realms, and the enchantment and mysteries that exist between heaven and earth.

Exhibition “Dudu Garcia – Time-Matter”

On March 15, 2023, at 7:00 PM, Anita Schwartz Galeria de Arte will open the exhibition "Tempo-Matéria" (Time-Matter), featuring approximately 14 new, previously unseen paintings by Rio de Janeiro-based artist Dudu Garcia. The works belong to the 2023 "RA 143" series, a title that references the address of the artist's studio on Avenida Rodrigues Alves, in Rio de Janeiro's port district.

XII BIAU: Inhabiting the Margins in Lima

The XII Ibero-American Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism (BIAU)—promoted by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (MITMA)—continues its traveling program in Peru with the exhibition XII BIAU: Habitar al Margen (Living on the Margins). The exhibition opened this Saturday as part of LIMAPOLIS 2023, an international workshop organized by the Faculty of Architecture at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP). It is curated by Elizabeth Añaños—an architect and member of the XII BIAU jury—and José Luis Villanueva—Director of Architectural Studies at PUCP—to foster experimentation and reflection on the Right to Housing and living in Metropolitan Lima.

Design media have the power to highlight stories they deem important, amplify or silence certain voices, and challenge or reinforce specific ideas.

LIGA 36 Opening: Isidoro Michan-Guindi

Undoubtedly, the most famous is Roman concrete, which brought greatness to the empire and has been the subject of countless studies. The most recent of these, published by MIT, documents properties such as the self-healing of fissures and cracks, as well as increased durability over time.
