Two architects who curate the Chilean Architecture Biennial (and do not build), an architect involved in parametric design, and an architect from Concepción working in the publishing world will be the guests for the fourth session and 2018 closing event of the #XFORMAS project. The event will take place in the heart of Santiago on Thursday, December 6, at 7:00 p.m. at AriztiaLAB.
To celebrate the end of 2018, the event will feature an after-party hosted by DJ Xico and will also give away 20 copies of the book ‘Arquitectura no es solo obra’, edited by Juan Pablo Urrutia, Cristina Núñez, and Sebastián Simonetti.
The National Academy of Architecture, Monterrey Chapter, recognizes the talent, work, vision, and career of architect Tito Camargo, marking his 60 years of architectural practice. Distinguished members of this chapter will analyze his work and the journey that has led him to become one of the most prominent pioneers of contemporary architecture in northeastern Mexico.
Opening of the exhibition (I)Mobilities: Trajectories and Narratives (Sabinada Collective - Salvador/BA)
Coletivo Sabinada invites you to the opening of the exhibition "(I)Mobilidades: Trajetórias e Narrativas," organized by the collective as part of the artistic experimentation project "(I)Mobilidade Urbana: Percursos e recortes de uma problemática social construída e invisibilizada" (PIBExA 2018/PROEXT-UFBA). Six artists from the emerging cultural scene in Bahia—Ana Elisa Improta, Tita Anjos, Oliver Dorea, Diego J. Cardoso, Milena Ferreira, and Janusberg Barbosa—were invited to create works based on research conducted by Coletivo Sabinada regarding the mobility of FAUFBA students. The findings, organized into a database, were made available to the artists, who used them as catalysts for their work.

This Saturday, December 15, marks the launch of the first edition of Envolvente magazine, a publication dedicated to promoting and recognizing local architecture by fostering critical discourse and opinion on relevant topics in architecture, design, and urbanism. Bartlebooth launches its seventh experiment, Beyond the Human. This collective publication explores discourses and practices that shift the human from the center of spatial production and understand its position within a global system traversed by multiple tentacles. A reality inhabited by bacteria, animals, waste, bit chains, logistical orders, fungi, cyborgs, territories, ecosystems, and air... A new, multiple body that must be interrogated to understand spatial realities and unveil architectural possibilities that go beyond the human.
Spanning 9 hours and held on Tuesdays—December 4, 11, and 18—the course "Great Themes in Architecture: Cities" will be taught by Professor Heloisa Dallari, an architect with a PhD in Architecture from the USP School of Architecture and Urbanism, a professor of undergraduate and graduate courses at FAAP, and a lecturer and consultant in Interior Design.
Launch of the first issue of América - Postgraduate Journal of Escola da Cidade, at Sesc - Research and Training Center
The graduate program at Escola da Cidade, which celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2018, currently offers four regular courses: ‘Housing and City,’ ‘Geography, City and Architecture,’ ‘Architecture, Education and Society,’ and ‘Mobility – Its Logics and Scales.’ In 2019, the program will expand to include the course ‘Conceiving and Constructing: Lightweight Structures and Prefabrication.’

The event aims to elucidate the design processes employed by notable Latin American architects, with the goal of introducing students and faculty to the pedagogy of architectural design. Each invited architect will explain their approach to practice, focusing not only on creative processes but also on collaboration with their partners, through the presentation of a select number of projects. The event will feature two 20-minute lectures by Latin American architects, followed by a 30-minute panel discussion.
This year’s Architect and Urban Planner Day will be a time for celebration and recognition. As is tradition, CAU/RJ will announce the winners of the Grandjean de Montigny Grand Prize during a ceremony at the Nelson Rodrigues Theater on Tuesday, December 18, starting at 4:00 p.m. The program will also feature a talk with architect and urban planner Luiz Carlos Toledo, a performance of the show "Pixinguinha, the Architect of Choro," and a cocktail reception.
