We are pleased to invite you to the opening of the exhibition A Paisagem do Trabalho / Landscape of Work, a project developed by a team of faculty and students from FAUSP that received an Honorable Mention at the 2018 Venice Biennale: Freespace.
FAU was one of nine schools invited by the Venice Biennale—among the most prestigious in the world—to participate in an international competition aimed at rethinking the current and future use of the Marghera region. This industrial zone of Venice covers an area nearly ten times the size of the city itself. The primary challenge facing the teams, as is the case with deindustrialized zones worldwide, was to envision the physical and social rehabilitation of these spaces. Currently in a state of partial abandonment and environmental contamination, these areas must be revitalized due to their strategic location and scale to be reincorporated into the life of the post-industrial city. The project resulted in a video exhibited during the Venice Biennale, which will be presented here at the Salão Caramelo exhibition, alongside display panels, original drawings, and models.
