Competition: Design of a Humanitarian Respite Center
The shelter serving as a humanitarian respite center in downtown McAllen, Texas, was created to respond to the needs of families in crisis. Through its services and the selfless work of volunteers, the shelter has helped countless people in need regain their dignity, particularly Central American immigrants seeking refuge after crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.
Ideasforward is an experimental platform that seeks progressive ideas reflecting emerging themes. Ecological design, sustainable architecture, new materials, concepts, and technologies are pressing issues for the societies of the future, and the participation of the entire community is essential. In an era of globalization, where communication has been dominated by the technological revolution, there is a need to rethink cities and how people relate to one another in a global world, as well as to rethink the economic, social, and cultural patterns of contemporary societies.
The housing deficit in Peru currently stands at 1.8 million, with 20.9% being quantitative and 79.1% qualitative. 70% of homes are built without the technical assistance of an architect or engineer. Do you want to be part of the change? The right to housing is the right to a dignified home: this is the shared goal of DNADD and Techo Perú—to redesign a new modular housing model capable of providing Lima's populations with basic necessities and a space worthy of being called a "home."
Starting November 13, the Museu de Arte Indígena (MAI) in Curitiba will host the exhibition Bancos Indígenas do Brasil (Indigenous Seats of Brazil), which features 38 pieces from the BEI collection, a documentary on the production process with artist testimonials, and a series of debates on Indigenous art. The seats were crafted by peoples from various regions of the upper and lower Xingu, the southern Amazon, the Midwest, northern Pará, the Guianas, and the northwestern Amazon. The exhibition is free to the public and will run until February 11.

Architecture, art, poetry, and literature have occasionally produced works where their boundaries blur and, for a moment, even merge. The "Gajes del Oficio" series aims to continue blurring these boundaries, encouraging this to happen more frequently and expanding the tools of each "trade."

The Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) invites architecture and exhibition design professionals to participate in the competition to select the architectural and exhibition design project for the Brazil Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, to be held from October 20, 2020, to April 10, 2021, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The competition is hosted by Apex-Brasil and organized by the Institute of Architects of Brazil, Federal District chapter (IAB-DF).
Ideas Competition - Social Housing in the City Center

This ideas competition considers water landscapes, and more specifically rivers, as mediators in the necessary harmonic and dynamic balance that must exist between cities and nature. The fluvial (geomorphological) restoration approach will be used to revitalize a river, thereby understanding its natural system to inform design adapted to that system.

São Paulo, 2018 – On Friday, November 23, Arq.Futuro, Inciti – Research and Innovation for Cities, Escola da Cidade, and the Ministry of Public Security will host the Urbanism and Public Security Seminar. The event will analyze recent intervention experiences in three cities: Medellín, Colombia; Recife; and Rio de Janeiro. The COMAD 2018 Fair - Timber Construction and Sustainability aims to promote and strengthen timber construction in Chile. The goal is to generate value-added opportunities within the construction industry.
