The EMPORIA award recognizes ephemeral projects across various sectors, including museums, exhibitions, trade fairs, retail spaces, festivals, sporting events, and conceptual or experimental architecture. The common denominator for all entries is that the architectural work must be ephemeral.

Starting Monday, September 6, the online registration platform will be open to professionals and students in fields related to architecture, interior design, industrial design, product design, lighting design, and engineering who currently reside in Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, or the Dominican Republic. Projects may be registered in five professional categories: Architectural Lighting, Interior Lighting, Light-Art, Product Design, and Connect +IoT—a new category focused on the integration of new connectivity technologies with lighting.
