UN-Habitat Brazil is opening the call for event submissions for the 2020 Urban Circuit.
The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) has opened submissions for events taking place in October across Brazil and in Portuguese-speaking African countries (Angola, Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, and São Tomé and Príncipe). Interested parties are invited to participate in the 2020 Urban Circuit, themed "Post-COVID-19 Cities: Dialogues between Brazil and Portuguese-speaking Africa."
UN-Habitat is the UN agency responsible for promoting sustainable urban development and hosts the annual "Urban October" initiative. The initiative, which begins on World Habitat Day (the first Monday of October) and concludes on World Cities Day (October 31), features two selected themes each year to reflect on a range of urban issues and share knowledge and experiences to foster a better urban future. Furthermore, it serves as a platform for debating and disseminating the New Urban Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 11 ("Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable").
