The Barcelona International Architecture Film Festival, BARQ. Festival is a film festival aimed at vindicating films on architecture as a specific genre and at deepening the relationship between architecture and the seventh art. Cinema uses architecture to show and create worlds that explore social realities, and architecture uses cinema to encourage reflection on the most current issues regarding the spaces we inhabit.

We are delighted to announce that the RSA Open Exhibition of Architecture is returning once again this spring as part of the 195th RSA Annual Exhibition. On view from 4 April – 9 May 2021, the exhibition will showcase a diverse range of contemporary art and architecture from our Royal Scottish Academicians, plus artists and architects carefully selected from online open submissions.

A by-product of cultures that abide in it, today's urban environment faces fastidiously changing technology and transforming lifestyle choices. ‘Communication’ has had a large impact on ‘commute’ and the meaning of ‘meeting’ is no more limited to physical. There has been a paradigm shift in the cultural perception of the built and personal boundaries and territorialities have strengthened tremendously. The quality of indoor and outdoor in an urban space determines the quality of interpersonal relationships as well and health and well-being of its users. It is hence important to plan and design spaces that are capable of accommodating transformation. In today’s scenario ‘Resilience’ is the only constant that helps keep the cities stable. The quality and strength of this resilience determines the quality of Urban life.

2020 has been a hard year; everyone needs a little break to take a step back and rediscover the things, places, and people they love. With this context in mind, we are proud to open the Architecture Illustration Competition.

Now in its 14th year, The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design, together with The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies, are organizing “Europe 40 Under 40” for 2020-2021. Each year, our Institutions invite young European professionals to participate in this innovative awards program that spotlights Europe's next generation of up-and-coming European design practitioners.

Open Source Design is the development of ideas without the retention of intellectual property. The goal of this initiative is to propagate a community of designers that are enthusiastic to selfless creation. The Open Source Design Library is a by-product of ARC.HV's experimental study, The 4th Dimension. The products currently range from furniture pieces, installations, jewellery, modular shelters and animal pods. The objective is to use locally available materials consciously with minimum wastage while following a DIY method of making or easy assembly in construction.

Essays on architecture restoration and reuse proposals for Piscina Mirabilis” is an incoming book, published by Save the Heritage Benefit Corporation, including essays on the topic of Architecture Restoration from worldwide researchers and the projects on the reuse of Piscina Mirabilis, to be published on 2021 with ISBN. The editorial board currently welcomes abstracts from University researchers, PhD candidates, professors and any other scholar affiliated to an institution or a cultural organization.

From a reality of intense transformations generated by the COVID-19 pandemic around the world, the 13th International Architecture Biennale of São Paulo presents "Reconstruction" as the central issue for the Co-Curatorship Call for Proposals.

The theme of Nurturing Architecture explores the discipline as both processes and constructions with an ethos of care, of providing nourishment and of supporting growth and development. Inherent in the multiple interpretations of nurturing, is the notion of wellbeing, and the ways in which architects and educators consider the wellbeing of future and current generations of users and other stakeholders, including our communities of architects and students.

UPDATE: The 13th International Architecture Biennial of São Paulo has extended the deadline for the Co-Curatorship Competition proposals until January 31, 2021, at 11:59 PM. Proposals may be submitted via the Biennial website. This edition features a 12-member committee, including representatives from the IAB (Institute of Architects of Brazil) from other states to ensure plurality in overseeing this event of national and international reach.

IDEA-TOPS Organizing Committee has announced the 10th International Space Design Award, calling for marvelous projects of interior design and architecture from around the world. The winners in 18 categories will be selected by an international jury, which is consisted of senior experts in the field, with the principles of being professional, rigorous, fair and just. The number of submissions is unlimited, every participant can submit a few projects completed in 2018-2020.
