Open Сall for Lety u Písku Holocaust Memorial Competition Entries

On 14th October 2019 the Czech Museum of Romani Culture in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic and ONplan, the competition organizer, announced a landscape and architectural competition for a memorial to the Roma and Sinti Holocaust victims in Bohemia. The memorial is to be set in Lety u Písku, a village where during World War Two a so-called Gypsy Camp was built, a forced labour facility for Bohemian Roma and Sinti before their transport to Auschwitz.

The BLL Awards for Architecture & Design comes from “Bringing light to life” which is the slogan of VELUX world brand for roof windows, which distribute daylight and fresh air into buildings through the roof. The idea of the Awards is to popularize good architecture, from architects and designers across countries in the CEE (Central and Eastern Europe) region, which demonstrates the effective distribution of daylight into buildings and the utilization of the space under the roof elements. It is a platform to showcase the work and products of architects and designers to a global audience. This year is the 6th edition of the BLL Awards, and is now open for entries. Seven countries from the CEE region are included – Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania, Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Turkey.

Starting with the landmark exhibition in 2014, Built by Women has offered the opportunity to demonstrate the breadth of achievement in the building industry by women at the highest levels.

Women are underrepresented in the building professions: architecture (15–18%), engineering (4.5–13.7%), and construction (2.6%). Built by Women’s goal is to change this. Increasing the number of women in science, technology, engineering, architecture and mathematics is critical to our country’s ability to compete globally. 

The purpose of this competition is to recognize the significant but often overlooked work of women architects, landscape architects, urban designers, engineers, contractors, and developers in the Los Angeles metropolitan area.

Call for Entries: Open Competition to Develop Conceptual Designs for Garage Museum of Contemporary Art's Summer Cinema

Garage Museum of Contemporary Art announces the second competition for the development of conceptual designs for 2020’s Garage Screen, a summer cinema located in Garage Square in front of the Museum. The competition’s goal is to provide architectural bureaus with an opportunity to submit their vision of a temporary pavilion to be installed in Gorky Park from spring to fall 2020. Applications will be accepted from 22 July through 16 August 2019.

Mozambique Preschool: Flor da Manhã

In the current competition, we will help Assa, a Mozambican teacher, build a center for children with disabilities and affected by social exclusion, with the help of the Estamos Juntos Initiative and the NGO Somos del Mundo. The winning proposal will be built.
The school will be located in a plot between the cities of Xai-Xai and Chongoene, approximately 1 km away of the road that connects them.

Call for Entries: 2019 Brick in Architecture Awards

The Brick Industry Association (BIA) has opened its entries for the 2019 Brick in Architecture Awards—now celebrating 30 years as the nation’s leading architectural design competition featuring fired-clay brick. Entries are due by Oct. 31.

With a history of stunning, innovative and unusual design, all submissions must use clay brick as the project’s primary building material.

2019 Innovative Application Competition for Global Additive Manufacturing

The 2019 "Innovative Application Competition for Global Additive Manufacturing" is sponsored by the People's Government of Fengtai District of Beijing Municipality and the Beijing Municipal Commission of Science and Technology. Under the theme of IN(3D) NOVATION, the competition will feature the scaled application and industrialization prospect of 3D printing in six fields, aerospace engineering, automotive design and manufacturing, digital orthopedics, urban landscape and architecture, consumer goods upgrades - shoes, and the museum cultural innovation. International Competition in Architecture 2019

The prizes of the Jacques Rougerie Foundation – Institut de France, are given in order to offer architects, designers, engineers, and urban planners a unique opportunity to propose innovative, audacious, and disruptive projects. Those architectural projects, based on emerging technologies, a prospective vision and interdisciplinary competences – science, sociology, climatology, geography, etc. – should elucidate current and future environmental issues. Projects must as well be mindful of the ethics of sustainability and contribute to the integration of the sea nd space in our societies: innovating materials, advanced techniques, and fundamental progress in terms of conception and building, energy saving, protection of natural resources, recycling, etc.

Open international competition for the development of a master plan for the Derbent urban district, Republic of Dagestan (Russia)

Competition is a part of a program for the development of one of the oldest towns in the Russian Federation — Derbent. The master plan developed by the competitors will be an important document, which will determine the direction of socio-economic and geographical development of Derbent in the medium term. Its implementation will support Derbent’s internal transformation, the integration of the town with global processes, and an improvement in the efficiency of the use of the town’s resources. Competitors will also need to develop a concept for the development of the central public space of Derbent, the town’s embankment, which runs for 12 km along the Caspian Sea.
