Urban Conversation: Urban Social Integration

This discussion aims to create a space for proactive dialogue, featuring various guest speakers alongside students and the general public, to address pressing issues regarding the city's future challenges.
We have invited four professionals who have led the coordination necessary to bring projects that foster social integration to fruition. The goal is for them to present each project as an example of urban best practice. Despite varying scales of intervention and diverse target users, these projects share a common thread: they serve as proactive contributions to the discussion on current and future urban challenges.

'Smart Building Design' Course

INNOTICA, an engineering firm specializing in the development of automation and control projects for large-scale buildings, has organized a professional course for stakeholders in Ecuador's construction sector as part of the 2nd SmartCities Ecuador 2018 Congress. The course is open to architects, civil, electrical, electronic, telecommunications, and mechanical engineers, as well as students and builders.

Parametric Modeling with Grasshopper

This course is an introduction to the development, control, and realization of complex geometries through the association of project parameters using Grasshopper, the most advanced generative modeling software for architecture and design.

15th Congress of Architects

    4th Smart Buildings Congress

    The Smart Buildings Congress is the leading professional forum on smart buildings in Spain. It brings together the sector's key stakeholders, addressing the current state and future of smart buildings, as well as the implications for companies and professionals involved in the design, construction, and management of buildings and their facilities.
    The fourth edition of the Smart Buildings Congress will be held on June 19, 2018, at the COAM headquarters, the Official Architects' Association of Madrid.
    The Congress approaches the concept of the smart building from a comprehensive, multidisciplinary perspective. A wide range of topics will be covered, including technical and regulatory issues, as well as business opportunities, with solutions for both new construction and renovation projects.
    The event covers the current state and future of the sector through various formats, including research presentations, smart building project exhibitions, panel discussions, and keynote speeches.
    The thematic areas established for the 4th Smart Buildings Congress are:

    -Technologies and Solutions for Building Intelligence

    Colors of the Future Congress

    The University of San Pedro Sula is celebrating its 40th anniversary with the most significant architecture event in Honduran history. "Colores del Futuro" will feature prominent figures in architecture with extensive international experience. The event will include exhibitions, artistic performances, and surprises for attendees.

    ARQ 100 Launch

    The launch of the 100th issue of ARQ magazine will take place on Friday, December 21, at 7:00 PM in the FADEU Auditorium. The event will feature commentary from Beatriz Bustos, Director of the Centro Cultural Palacio de la Moneda; Sebastián Gray, architect, columnist, and professor at the UC School of Architecture; and Cristóbal Molina, researcher and coordinator of the Architecture Department at the Ministry of Culture, Arts, and Heritage.

    Light Art and Mapping Workshop

    This course explores the possibilities of light as an expressive and artistic medium and as a way to intervene in specific spaces. We will begin with the theory of light and optics, move on to the origins of projections and modern spectacle, illusionism, and artistic intervention, and conclude with projection and mapping techniques, examining the latest global developments in this field.

    The Political Re-literacy and Critical Education Program is an extension of artist Traplev’s "pedagogical cushions" project. Beyond providing a didactic tool, the program focuses on educational activities to foster discussions on themes addressed in the cushions, specifically those related to progressive programs and social justice movements in Brazil.

    SurSur Seminar in Concepción

    This seminar is positioned in the South, looking toward the South. It approaches the subject not only through the lens of architects but also through those of a biologist, a sculptor, and a documentarian. Together, they propose methodologies, approaches, processes, and discussions surrounding what is "available," while maintaining a global perspective. This allows us to discuss what it means to study architecture at a school in the southern part of the world, exploring concepts such as territory and landscape, material, precariousness, culture, craftsmanship, and remote locations, among others.

    Exhibition "Weaving Memory"

    Featuring a total of 20 black-and-white portraits enhanced with thread-on-paper techniques, emerging talent María Jesús Sáez aims to decentralize her work, starting in Chiloé, where she will present the exhibition “HILANDO EL RECUERDO” from September 7 to October 10 at the Galería Modulor in Castro, sponsored by the integrated marketing group ADBrokers.

    International Seminar: The Journey as Discovery

    The 2018-01 International Architecture Seminar, "Travel as Discovery," features three lectures open to the public. Guest speakers include French architect Caroline Manique and British historian Tim Benton, both of whom have extensive individual and collaborative research on topics such as Le Corbusier, Art Deco, and architectural theory.
