Javier Sordo Madaleno Bringas was born in Mexico City in 1956 and studied at the Faculty of Architecture of the Universidad Iberoamericana (1974–1979). He has made significant contributions to architectural development and style in Mexico, improving the built environment and the quality of life for users. With over forty years of experience as an architect and developer, his professional career has been highly prolific, encompassing approximately 190 designed projects, more than nine million square meters built, and around two and a half million square meters developed. His most representative projects include: Hotel Westin Regina L.C. (1993), Moliére Dos22 (1997), Masterplan Antara (2006–2018), San Josémaría Escrivá Church (2008), Masterplan Andares (2009–2017), Antea Lifestyle Center (2013), Toreo Parque Central (2014), Residencial Artesia (2014), Andamar Lifestyle Center (2014), Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen (2015), ARTZ Pedregal (2018), and 28 projects for the Teletón Foundation (1999–2016).

Adrian Forty

Adrian Forty, Professor Emeritus of Architectural History at UCL, presents two articles in this ARQDocs in which he precisely discusses, first, the use of the concept (and word) 'primitive' at different moments in the history of the discipline, and subsequently examines its dependency on the written word, extending and revising the conclusions of his book, 'Words and Buildings'.

Thomas Weaver

Thomas Weaver is an architecture writer and editor. Having served as editor of AA Files for 10 years, he is currently a visiting professor at the Berlage Center for Advanced Studies in Architecture and Urban Design at TU Delft. In this ARQDocs volume, he presents the essays "Grimm the Modelmaker" and "Against Research."

Manuel Corrada

Manuel Corrada holds a degree in Mathematics from the University of Chile. He is a researcher in logic, the metamathematics of set theory, Gödel’s methods, and Turing machines. He has published various scientific articles, as well as writings on design, perception, architecture, and book criticism.

Beatriz Colomina

Beatriz Colomina is the director and founder of the interdisciplinary Media and Modernity program at Princeton University in the United States, where she also serves as a professor and director of Graduate Studies at the School of Architecture.

Selling bricks and showcasing the architectural avant-garde

Selling bricks and exposing architectural avant-garde is an audiovisual archive project developed by Pablo Ibáñez Ferrera and Antonio Giráldez López since 2018. To date, it has taken the form of an Instagram feed (@kellycorbusier) and a publication. Selling bricks captures avant-garde architecture and cases of particular relevance featured in urban music videos in Spain.

The party, the strange, and the public space

This publication is a device of the Fiestas Raras (Queer Parties) project, a contribution aimed at opening new lines of flight regarding the queer, the party, and public space. It brings together voices and reflections on the potential of thinking about public space from a non-normative perspective—viewing the queer as a form of tension against the canonical, and the party as a mechanism for encounter through which to weave alliances.

Alejandro Aravena: Lecture in Santiago

As part of the elective course "Architectural Production Modes: Dissemination and Criticism," architect and 2016 Pritzker Prize laureate Alejandro Aravena will deliver a lecture delving into the trajectory and production methods of ELEMENTAL, through the exhibition work produced by the firm for the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Denmark.
