Social Urbanism is an urban intervention strategy created in Medellín that was fundamental in transforming the social reality of the city's impoverished neighborhoods. Drawing on these experiences and with the support of professors from Eafit Urban, the postgraduate program launched by Insper, Itaú Cultural, and Arq.Futuro aims to train managers capable of addressing the complex reality of vulnerable urban centers in Brazil.

Simone Cadinelli Arte Contemporânea opens the exhibition "How to inhabit the present? Network Rail and RIBA Competitions have launched an international competition to shape the future of Britain’s railway stations. The competition will provide architects, engineers and designers the chance to improve the travel experience for the millions of passengers who use Britain’s railway, and leave a lasting legacy on station design.It asks designers to reimagine small to medium-sized stations – which make up 80% of all those on Britain’s railway – so they can better serve the needs of both passengers and their local communities.

For the first time, MSDx will be held as a virtual exhibition on an interactive multimedia platform, showcasing hundreds of pieces of studio work by our talented students.

Two characters, Vernacular (V) and Modern (M) constructions, live in a fantastical universe in harmony. They find proximity next to each other, and a relationship occurs between them. Their physical (architectural components, or elements) and mental (genius loci, or spirit of the place) capacities intertwine. At a certain point, a will to power emerges and stirs the calmness that previously existed: M starts to over-embrace V and the latter suffocates. V starts, then, to look for a way out of the relationship. After several trials, a “heterotopic escape” succeeds. The relationship is broken, and V searches for a new adventure elsewhere, looking for beauty. Once the new journey ends, V comes back to M, with a new and twisted approach towards their relationship.

After the success of the 2015 IASS expo in Amsterdam and the 2019 expo in Barcelona, WG21[1] is organising a new exhibition to celebrate this success during the annual international symposium of the IASS and the 7th international conference on Spatial Structures. The expo, symposium and conference will take place in Surrey from 23 to 27 August 2021.
