Real-time visualization takes a 3D architectural model and transforms it into something that can be used to communicate with those less technically inclined. Your vision and design intent can be understood easily, which allows you to make decisions faster.
Architectural visualization technology has made this process accessible, but many tools on the market claim to offer the same thing; real-time updates, a seamless design experience, and high-quality, industry-standardized renderings. So, how do you know which one to choose?
In early December, the global winners of the International VELUX Award 2022 were announced, a competition for architecture students that celebrates the innovative and creative use of daylight in a broad range of different projects.
The workshop is designed for architects, engineers, designers, students, and/or academics who wish to learn about and explore the design, programming, and robotic execution of timber joinery. It will consist of two intensive days of hands-on work, covering everything from computational design to robotic timber fabrication. The workshop will be led by architect Francisco Quitral, with an introduction by architect Mauricio Vargas, MSc, both doctoral candidates at the University of Bío-Bío.
The Unbuilt Gallery of Architecture is an experimental gallery that exhibits contemporary architecture designed for the virtual medium. Viewers will inhabit an immersive, social space to experience the architecture together.
Saudi Design Festival 2023 (SDF 2023) will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from January 12-23, 2023. The edition will see the growth of design both in breadth and depth, adapting a new format that will activate various design destinations throughout the city. Kicking off this new program is a design forum happening on the festival's first weekend, alongside exhibitions, followed by a series of public realm interventions, and community-led events, under the festival’s calendar.

Daylight is core to realizing healthy and sustainable buildings, but its dynamic nature and the complex ways in which it interacts with its environment make it a difficult discipline to master. The new version of VELUX Daylight Visualizer makes climate-based daylight modeling more accessible than ever, empowering architects to make the best use of daylight anywhere in the world.
The Ravages of War: My Heartfelt Account is architect Marta Miret Rodríguez’s new book. An account written from the emotions that the Ukraine war arouses in her. Ukraine is a country that she knows due to her profession as an architect ―she lived it and experienced a humanistic and architectural transference towards it. This process helped her to put into words her emotions and all the feelings that this tragic war stirs up in her. What it has aroused in her.

Throughout its more than 75-year history, the Institute of Architects of Brazil – São Paulo Department (IABsp) has built and maintained an important documentary archive comprising meeting minutes, technical reports, periodical and bibliographic publications, photographs, audiovisual recordings, and works of art—a collection that documents the various activities of the institution and the architecture and urbanism profession in São Paulo.
At Fábrica de Ciudad, we continue to seek new spaces to share, reflect on, discuss, and question architecture. Visiting FAB is a collaborative project with the UNAM Faculty of Architecture, through its Division of Continuing Education and Faculty Development, aimed at building architectural knowledge and dialogue through curiosity outside the classroom—where architecture actually happens: on-site.
Elizabeth de Portzamparc, a Rio native based in Paris since 1969, has received numerous European awards for her distinguished work in architecture and urbanism. She is particularly recognized for leading large-scale projects in France and China, including entire neighborhoods, science centers, museums, and a monumental 262-meter tower in Taiwan, among others. In 2022, she adds the IAB-RJ Architect of the Year award to her list of achievements and accolades.
Often viewed as antithetical to degrowth, renewable energy, and climate justice, geoengineering is understood as a temporary solution for atmospheric carbon removal. Yet, are there other possible futures beyond it? How can we conceive of a radical and transformative climate intervention project that is democratic, participatory, and decentralized? Both critical and speculative, this book explores potential futures after geoengineering—futures born from social transformation and justice to address the complexities of the current climate crisis.
