International Student Competition "Urban Oases"

As part of the 11th National Landscape Architecture Congress, the Mexican Society of Landscape Architects, ITESO through its School of Architecture, and the Institute for Habitat Improvement of Tlajomulco invite all undergraduate students currently enrolled in programs related to landscape architecture, architecture, urban planning, and related fields to participate in an international competition centered on the theme "Urban Oases." This theme draws from the congress’s core focus, "Dynamic Landscapes: How to design adaptable and proactive landscapes in the face of increasing urbanization and climate change," which presents significant challenges for creative landscape design.

Derived from the Latin initium, the term "inicio" (beginning) is defined by the RAE itself as a synonym for "comienzo" (start), which in turn is revealed as the "principle, origin, or root of something." Therefore, a beginning can be approached from two perspectives: the tangible, related to the existence of an order or a series of elements structured according to specific parameters; and the symbolic, representing a milestone linked to a future event that marks the start of an expression of desire. Indeed, one cannot speak of architecture without speaking of desire—one of the materials from which initial decisions are constructed.

Competition Announcement: Full-Process Design for the Shenzhen Qianwan Unit 10 Nine-Year Integrated School Project

This project is located in the Qianwan Area of the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. It will be delivered through a design-led general contracting model, encompassing full-process design services. The project is centered on the comprehensive implementation of the compulsory education curriculum, with a focus on humanities, technology, low-carbon practices, and green ecology, aiming to establish a benchmark-setting, modern public nine-year integrated school.

Project Name: Full-Process Design for the Qianwan Unit 10 Nine-Year Integrated School Project
Project Location: Qianhai is situated in the heart of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, on the west side of the Shekou Peninsula in western Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. Located on the east bank of the Pearl River Estuary, it borders Hong Kong and Macao and sits at the intersection of the Pearl River Delta's primary economic development axis and the coastal functional expansion belt. This project is located in the Qianwan Area of the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone. The site is bounded by Qianwan 4th Road to the south, Kechuang 1st Street to the east, Kechuang 3rd Street to the west, and Chengxin 3rd Street to the north.

Art(e)facts 2021: Supernatural Togetherness opens applications for two artistic residencies
