Schenker Storen develops and produces a wide range of sun and weather protection products for both indoor and outdoor areas. The Sunnehof in Fällanden is a multi-storey residential development that blends contemporary architecture with a clear emphasis on energy efficiency and living comfort. Schenker Storen supported the project from planning through to completion, providing tailored vertical aluminium sliding shutters that integrated into the prefabricated façade elements.

Comprising six storeys in total, the building complex was constructed to the Minergie-P standard, meeting the highest criteria for sustainability. The project showcases a combination of modular construction, eco-friendly materials, and energy efficiency. A key architectural and functional feature is the use of vertical aluminium sliding shutters, installed as external sun protection. These shutters allow for flexible light and shade control while contributing to the building’s passive cooling concept. Running on precisely integrated guide rails, the shutters can be adjusted with pinpoint accuracy, enhancing comfort for residents while also serving as a striking architectural feature.

The aluminium sliding shutters were designed to match the façade colour and form. Their smooth surface and clean geometry create a dynamic interplay with the building’s other exterior elements. In addition to their technical excellence, the system impresses with its durability and low maintenance requirements, both important factors in large-scale residential developments.

Working in harmony with highly insulated windows and a controlled ventilation system, the sliding shutters support the project’s holistic energy concept. They also add visual structure to the façade and, through their movement, lend a sense of vitality to the overall architectural form. The system’s flexibility allows for individual adjustment based on changing daylight conditions and user preferences.
