More about this product

Designed by Emiliano López Mónica Rivera Arquitectos in Palafrugell, Girona, this residential double house seamlessly integrates into its natural surroundings, utilizing Egoin's radiata pine wood sourced from the forests of the Basque Country. The choice of wood species, resembling the local pine and cork oak trees of Les Gavarres in the Costa Brava region, enhances its harmony with the environment.

The precision in assembly, tactile qualities of the construction, sustainable design, and incorporation of natural elements such as cork contributed to the project receiving awards as the Egurtek 2018 for best wooden construction, recognition from the XIV Spanish Biennial of Architecture, and the Best Architects 19 Gold Award.

The house employs cork as a thermal insulator, enhancing energy efficiency while symbolizing the use of natural materials in construction. Both cork and wood originate from the Iberian Peninsula, showcasing the architects' commitment to local materials and environmentally respectful construction practices. This privately developed residence spans 350 square meters and utilizes 165 cubic meters of wood, resulting in the avoidance of over 130 tons of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere, in line with Egoin's environmental targets.
