More about this product

Engineered Layered Oak wooden flooring and paneling from Dinesen was used in a prestigious restaurant. The ÄNG restaurant situated in the vineyard Ästad Vingård in Sweden’s Halland County reopened after an extensive redesign. Completed in 2022, the transformation designed by Norm Architects and Karimoku Case Study offers a calm and peaceful environment with a culinary focus that offers the diners an evening of pleasure and surprises. ÄNG has been awarded the prestigious Michelin Green Star in recognition of its dedication to sustainability.

Restaurant Design

The Swedish word ‘äng’ means ‘meadow’, which refers to the restaurant's surroundings. The building rises out of the waving grassland in a Swedish meadow where water, rocks, and trees dot the wide open landscape. The building follows a greenhouse concept with an entirely glass structure, offering a panoramic view of the natural scenery.

Nature is a key element to the architecture, interior, and materials. Each element was carefully selected and made from natural resources. This shapes the experience of the restaurant. Strong links are created between the interior and exterior. An example of this is the connection between the stones outside and the stone floor at the main entrance of the restaurant.

Oak Engineered Wood

As the guests move further into the restaurant, wood plays a more central role. Engineered Oak flooring from the Dinesen Layers collection is used on the floor and as a background on the wall for gastronomical cooking.

The materials are carefully selected to achieve a good balance between the different sensory impressions and provide a well-rounded, harmonious experience.
