Roof lights from Forzon, a group company associated with Deforche Construction Group, are being used to renovate the roofs of the Cinquantenaire Parc in Brussels. The old zinc roofs that include skylights were rebuilt to meet the current requirements for energy performance as well as wind and water tightness. The renovations were completed with taking into consideration the historic nature of the buildings. This was achieved by following the design of the original slop, glass surfaces, and glass distribution with small profiles. The transition between the zinc and glass roof was customarily refined for this project and made exclusively with zinc and lead.
A customized greenhouse profile was specially developed to preserve the historical character of the monument. The coordination of the works was excellent, considering the museum remained open during construction.
The renovation is divided into four phases. The first two phases have so far been completed, which focused on the Museum of Art and History. The first phase included renewing 20 skylights for the roof of the square courtyard, the cloister garden, and the roof of the Narthex, while the second phase included 38 skylights for the renovation of the Rotunda roof, the roof around the Japanese garden, the roof of the Antiquity building, and the roof of the first hemicycle. This totals to 4272m2 of glass. Forzon was responsible for delivering and installing the purlins, alu, glass, and seals.
