Jonite offers contemporary engineered stonework solutions that merge natural aesthetics with high-performance functionality for modern architectural and landscape designs. Jonite's trench grates and sump covers were selected for the design of outdoor areas in the Bidadari Housing Development & Town Centre in Singapore.
Bidadari is a public housing development that transforms a historically significant site into a new residential district shaped by community, sustainability, and biophilic design. Completed in 2022, the project integrates green corridors, parks, and pedestrian-friendly streets to create a liveable and inclusive neighbourhood. Master planned and designed by MKPL Architects, the estate demonstrates Singapore’s evolving approach to high-density urban living with a focus on social interaction and well-being.
To support both landscaped and high-traffic areas, Jonite trench grates and sump covers were installed across multiple zones of the estate. From residential walkways and courtyards to the busier town centre and food centre, the engineered stone finish integrates with diverse environments while maintaining a consistent material language throughout the development.
In precincts requiring heavy-duty performance, the grates and sump covers were specified for their load-bearing capacity and durability. Their textured surfaces, slip resistance, and modular adaptability ensure long-term safety and resilience, while the stone-like appearance provides continuity across hardscape and landscaped areas.
