AMCAL and David Baker Architects completed affordable family apartments on Block 49 in the 638-acre Hunter’s Point Shipyard redevelopment (the largest redevelopment in the city’s history) in southeast San Francisco in August 2016. Pacific Pointe was the first affordable housing community in the master plan, and EnFold Façade elevated this development through elegant cohesive metal systems products.
EnFold Façade, a sub-division of BŌK Modern was selected for Corten guardrails and Wall screens in a custom pattern conceived by the Architects. The resulting design adds fun and contemporary flair to a signature entry tower with a scenic lookout of the Southern Bay Area. For the curving stair landing, BŌK Modern's EnFold Façade provided rolled-steel curved panels resulting in a sinuous ribbon effect. The firm also provided anodized aluminum sun-shading devices around the southern exposed windows in a scaled-down version of the same custom pattern.
EnFold Façade’s finishing touch to this development adds striking design through minimalist finishes, all through simple and elegant solutions for this future-forward development.
Product System Used
EnFold Façade Wallscreen systems are applicable to building exteriors, parking garage screens, and green screens as well as a variety of interior room divider, wall and ceiling applications. EnFold Façade panels can be directly mounted to the edge of a slab or other structure without the need for secondary supporting members. Panel systems are delivered to site fully fabricated and finished, ready for immediate installation. Designed with the same precision laser cutting typical throughout the entire BŌK Modern line of products, EnFold Façade Wallscreens can encompass an infinite array of patterns and shapes, and be finished in Kynar, powder coat, anodized aluminum, or rusted surface (Core-ten) steel.
- Balcony Guardrails
Guardrails are unitized structural panels that require no additional posts. This BŌK Modern original product reinvented guardrails with laser-cut panels.
Sunshades come with BŌK Modern’s EnFold Façade's exclusive nail-on fins for clean installation or custom bracket for larger, dramatic, sun protection effects. Shadows cast from the sunshades add depth and animation as the resulting pattern of the façade.
