Sky-Frame Hurricane is a hurricane-rated version of the frameless Sky-Frame sliding system, based on Sky-Frame 3 and available with the Classic system and the Original track option. It is certified to the Miami-Dade County High Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ) standard under the Florida Building Code. The sight line is 29 mm (1 1/8").
Construction
As a variant of Sky-Frame 3, Hurricane keeps the slim sight line and the flush floor transition of the base system while meeting the structural requirements of the HVHZ. The units use a 40.5 mm (1 5/8") laminated insulating glass build-up (LSG-TSG 6/6.6 SGP / 12 / LSG-TSG 6/6.6 SGP) in reinforced frames, and a concealed espagnolette bolt adds wind resistance where required. Glazing can be specified as double insulated glass, laminated safety glass or monolithic glazing.

Opening layouts
Configurations run on 2 to 4 tracks with an unlimited number of parallel panels. Opening layouts include edge openings, centre openings on the same level or offset, and frameless corner openings; fixed corner glazing and Inline are not available in this version. The frameless corner opening clears two adjacent sides, so the glazing can continue around a building corner without a fixed post. A steel-reinforced labyrinth is available, and the panels can be operated manually or with an electric drive.
Features
The hurricane-rated version is compatible with the Fly, Drive, Guard and Pocket features. The portfolio also includes a hurricane-certified Pivot door.
Applications
Sky-Frame Hurricane is used in hurricane-prone coastal regions, high-rise buildings, mountain properties and other wind-exposed locations that require impact-rated glazing without giving up the frameless appearance of the standard system.
Colours and manufacture
Seven anodised finishes are supplied as standard: the colourless E6/EV1 and six chemically mattened Colinal tones. Further anodised colours are available on request, as is powder coating in the RAL, IGP and DB colour systems, applied in-house to the Qualicoat standard. All components are developed and manufactured in Switzerland; more than 15,000 projects have been realised since 2002.
