Louis Poulsen's AJ Lamps by Louis Poulsen were designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1960 for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen (Radisson Blu) and contributed to the total design concept of the hotel. Several of the hotel items have achieved design icon status today, and among the lighting products, the AJ Lamps, in particular, have become world-renowned.
Available for three uses: AJ Table, AJ Floor and AJ Wall, the AJ lamp's unusual lines and shade volume, and the round hole in the base, give it a highly sculptural appearance. AJ Lampshade design is based on two geometric shapes: a cylinder (the socket) and a cone (the shade). The lamp focuses light where it is needed and is ideal as a work light or a reading lamp.
Five new color variants were introduced in connection with the 50th anniversary of the launch of the AJ collection. The new colors have been carefully chosen in line with an updated Arne Jacobsen color scheme: White, Black, Aubergine, Dark Green, Dark Grey, Light Grey, Midnight Blue, Pale Petroleum, Rusty Red and Yellow Ochre.
