Use
Interior movable glass wall for acoustic space division with daylight transmission. -
Applications
Corporate offices, conference and training rooms, hotels, educational buildings, showrooms and multipurpose spaces. -
Characteristics
Paired panel automatic operation, automatic top and bottom seals with 7/8-inch (23 mm) clearance, 51 and 45 STC glass / 50 STC solid, 4-inch (100 mm) nominal panel thickness, double-skin tempered glazing, aluminum frame in anodized or powder-coated RAL finishes, maximum height 12 feet (3,658 mm), panel widths from 28 to 48 inches.
Modernfold manufactures operable partitions, glass wall systems and accordion doors for interiors that need to change configuration over time. The Acousti-Clear® paired panel glass wall groups aluminum-framed glass panels in twos, so the run is deployed in half the movements an individual-panel setup requires while keeping the same 51 STC acoustic ceiling and the same daylight transmission through double-skin tempered glazing.
Automatic sealing without controls
Seals are set mechanically: as each pair is advanced forward into the adjoining panel, top and bottom seals engage without cranks, buttons or electrical service. This is the configuration's main practical advantage — the wall closes correctly as a consequence of being closed, so the specified acoustic separation does not depend on a control sequence or on the operator remembering a second step. Seal clearance is 7/8 inch (23 mm) top and bottom with an operating range of ±3/8 inch (10 mm), so ceiling and floor tolerances need to be verified during construction.
Panel construction and acoustics
Panels are 4 inches (100 mm) thick in double-skin tempered glass on an aluminum frame with a minimum horizontal profile of 4.6875 inches (119 mm), with hanging weights between 10 and 11.5 lbs/sq.ft. Acoustic ratings are 51 or 45 STC for glazed panels and 50 STC for solid panels. Panels interconnect through convex and concave aluminum profiles with sealing lips, combining friction with a positive interlock along each joint.
Dimensions, closure and finishes
Maximum height is 12 feet (3,658 mm), with panel widths from 28 to 48 inches (711 to 1,219 mm), on G330 or #17G track. The run closes with a glass pivot door or a solid expandable panel, and pass doors, horizontal mullions and door hardware are available as options. Frame finishes include clear anodized, satin stainless anodized, and powder coat in white, black or standard RAL colors. Because the Acousti-Clear® family shares profiles and finishes, paired panel runs can be combined with other Acousti-Clear® configurations within the same space and read as one continuous system.
