Fifty years ago, Aldo Rossi proposed the need to conceive an architecture for museums,1 embracing the famous phrase Paul Cézanne offered from the realm of art: "I paint only for museums." Call for Submissions: ARQ 104 Laws

Laws, norms, standards, rules, regulations, orders, ordinances, protocols, codes. Like any endeavor that unfolds in the public sphere, architecture must submit to laws that exist outside of it, while simultaneously maintaining its cohesion through adherence to laws internal to its own field. However, architecture appears to be more than the mere application of these internal laws or simple submission to external ones.

Call for Papers: Extra-institutional Urbanism in Latin America

This issue of QU3 aims to explore research, projects, and actions in Latin America that observe and engage with the city through contemporary networks and the challenges that define them. The organizers observe these phenomena and engage in practices within a complex and open urbanism, which is the result of a constant interaction between agents and agencies, as well as processes of innovation in the distribution of urban decision-making. In these times of significant political upheaval and institutional crises across the continent, the goal is to identify, value, and safeguard urban practices, collectives, and projects that can chart new paths.

VAD o1. Call for papers: The Origins

Derived from the Latin initium, the term "inicio" (beginning) is defined by the RAE itself as a synonym for "comienzo" (start), which in turn is revealed as the "principle, origin, or root of something." Therefore, a beginning can be approached from two perspectives: the tangible, related to the existence of an order or a series of elements structured according to specific parameters; and the symbolic, representing a milestone linked to a future event that marks the start of an expression of desire. Indeed, one cannot speak of architecture without speaking of desire—one of the materials from which initial decisions are constructed.
