1. Background and Purpose of the Competition
● We intend to turn the Gwangmyeong-Siheung Public Housing District (the “District”) into a more futuristic urban town that provides its residents with more jobs, better housing and transportation, as well as more eco-friendly and safer environment. To this end, we launched this Competition to select the best proposal with a great urban master plan and implementation strategies for a multi-dimensional urban space planning for the specialty areas.
● Through this Competition, we plan to come up with the most promising draft of urban master plan exclusively devised for the District to enrich the project site with a great theme, symbolic significance and artistry, tapping into diverse and creative ideas.

The unused real estate assets of Italy's inland areas can be the key to their development. We create a start-up with this precise task. The Property Department of the Riga City Council in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia and the Latvian Architects Association on 18 January 2023 announced the launch of the international architectural competition of RIGA PHILHARMONIC. Interested architects are invited to design the building of RIGA PHILHARMONIC within the historic center of Riga, in a scenic urban environment – in Kronvalda Park, rebuilding the Riga Congress Centre located at Krišjāņa Valdemāra iela 5, Riga.

A new 2,600m2 park is coming to 229 Richmond St. W in downtown Toronto, Canada. The site is currently leased to a restaurant and used as an outdoor patio. It has been purchased by the City of Toronto for future park use.

The Organizing Committee of the 20th edition of the Mediterranean Games - Taranto 2026 ‐ has promoted a two‐stage tendering for the realization, from scratch of the Swimming Stadium in Taranto and the recovery of the external area.
The general objective of this International Design Contest is to start the construction of the Swimming Stadium for the XX Mediterranean Games 2026 in Taranto, in other words to allow competitive swimming activities on an international level connected with the creation of an architecture that enhances the landscape context and the historical pre‐existences.
Taranto 2026 is an opportunity to change the image of the city and of the entire Ionian Arch, to give different life prospects to the citizens and to make the city more welcoming, for its inhabitants and consequently also for the massive incoming tourist flows.
During the event, 32 sports will involve 25 facilities for the competitions and 15 for the training. A big part of the event will take place in the existing structures, in the perspective of a regional sports assets recovery.
Only a few structures will be built from scratch and, through an integrated design with the local heritage, they can become iconic architectures for the city, representative of a process of transformation and renewal: a Swimming Stadium, a Federal Nautical Center and a multidisciplinary Sports Center.
Sporting infrastructures play a strategic role in the urban and functional organization of the cities.
These are architectures that also have a function as social aggregators with identity values and enhancement of the sense civic duty. A city with many sports facilities has repercussions on the promotion of health and sociality. These belong to the category of essential urban "services".
The Area for the Swimming Stadium straddles an important jump in altitude, and this configuration of the soil, will allow the construction of a bridge‐building between the level of the road and the sea level. The project makes accessible, tangibly and through the creation of a series of optical cones, a coastal area not currently in use.
Except for important urban tracts, such as the seafront “Vittorio Emanuele III”, the multiple and different sea fronts of the city of Taranto are often underused, or occluded by other latent resources, such as the buildings and properties of the Navy. The sea is recognized as a great opportunity for the redevelopment of the city: the sea as an extraordinary and diversified "endowment of public blue".
The Swimming Stadium is seen as one of those projects capable to recover an important stretch of coast, now abandoned, and return it to civic uses.
The overall size of the area necessary for the construction of the new Stadio del Nuoto is about 5,000 square meters for the indoor pool, about 4000 square meters for the outdoor pool; for a total of approximately 9,000 square meters, which can be spread over several levels by exploiting the changes in altitude and the irregularity of the ground.
The swimming sports facility must therefore be equipped with two swimming pools, one indoor and one outdoor, which must comply with the minimum standards for the "Olympic Games" and the conduct of the Swimming and Water Polo disciplines, giving a more complete offer both for free time but above all for sport at a competitive level.
The designers will have to evaluate and adopt solutions that contemplate building envelopes capable of creating positive effects on environmental parameters (reduction of the heat island, better management of rainwater, absorption of air pollutants) and that reduce the consumption that weighs on the management of the sports facility (winter heating of the pool room, air changes, water management in the pool).
The containment of energy consumption will be essential for an economically and ecologically sustainable management. The main goal will be the realization of a greater environmental comfort of users, having the maximization of energy containment and lower operating costs in relation to consumption and maintenance.

The University of Banja Luka announces the International general public competition for the development of an architectural concept design of the summer stage, the memorial to the fallen students and employees of the University of Banja Luka in the defensive and patriotic war and the accompanying landscaping.

MADERA: Building with timber. Innovation for social architecture in Uruguay is an international call for the design and construction of a mid-rise social housing timber building. The competition is organized by the Ministerio de Vivienda y Ordenamiento Territorial (MVOT, Ministry of Housing and Territorial Planning) of Uruguay, the Agencia Nacional de Vivienda (ANV, National Housing Agency), with the support of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the participation of the Municipality of Durazno.

Tartu city government in cooperation with the Estonian Association of Architects will organize the international architecture competition for the Tartu downtown cultural centre. Architects from all over the world are invited to design one of the most important future cultural spaces in the second biggest city of Estonia, in the very heart of university town Tartu.

The Municipality of Ulcinj, an old coastal town in south Montenegro, calls for proposals for conceptual design of a sports complex featuring the new city stadium at the beginning of Ulcinj's Long beach (Velika plaža), based on the parameters and recommendations specified in this competition task.

Submissions for the North American Copper in Architecture Awards (NACIA) 2023 are now open. Now in its 16th year, the awards presented by the Copper Development Association celebrate distinctive copper building projects. Projects of any size or type are eligible, but should feature architectural elements of copper, brass, or bronze; have been completed in the last 3 years; & be located in the United States or Canada. Entrants should submit basic project details & photos for consideration by March 31, 2023. There is no cost to submit. Submissions are evaluated based on design, craftsmanship, integration of copper alloys, excellence in innovation or restoration, & sustainable building strategies. Winning projects receive an award, extensive exposure in architectural/construction media, & recognition in CDA’s outreach programs. MEDS “Meetings of Design Students” Workshop is an international event that takes place each summer in a different country, focusing on various issues, themes, topics and settings that will help any designer expand their expertise.

The competition task covers the part of the Municipality of Budva, which represents the center of cultural, entertainment and informative events. The proposal for the competition deals with four natural and heritage environments: the water area, the beach, the green area and the promenade.
For the Competition for the development of a conceptual urban and architectural design for the promenade in the "Budva Bay" part of the Budva-Bečići promenade, phase I, participants are being asked to design a site plan for the development of a new identity for the city of Budva.
It is necessary to provide a basis for the creation of collective awareness at two levels. At the primary level, it is the creation of collective awareness among the citizens of Budva as permanent users of the space and their treatment of the environment in which they find themselves. At a secondary level, it is the image that the city sends to the world and to tourists as temporary and occasional users of the space.
It is of utmost importance to derive inspiration from vast cultural heritage of Old town of Budva and its 2500 years old history and future urban development.
Special attention should be paid to the dispersion of facilities covered with the proposal for competition, with an emphasis on the linear flow of user movement and intersection with lateral directions from the hinterland and contact zones. It is necessary to radically change the mode of use of the coastal strip of land with an emphasis on the introduction of public areas for communication, recreation and outdoor events.
The competition is open to all. No professional qualification is required. Design proposals can be developed individually or by teams.

There is less than one month left to submit to the 2022 CTBUH International Research Seed Funding initiative, kindly sponsored by AECOM, with an award of $15,000. The goal of the seed funding is to assist talented researchers in developing projects and ideas to a level that would secure additional, more significant, funding—in conjunction with CTBUH. Proposals should relate to the tall building typology/urban habitat but are open to any topic or discipline. Proposal submissions are due by 15 January 2023.

A two stage architectural Competition for the development of the future Museum of Sciences of Rome (MSR), conceived by the Scientific Technical Commission chaired by the Nobel Prize winning Prof. Giorgio Parisi. The museum is the final part of a broader redevelopment program program that has been involving, since 2013, a dismissed military infrastructure in via Guido Reni.
