Workspace Design Course

Organized by Bencke Arquitetura (www.benckearquitetura.com.br) and Qualidade Corporativa Smart Workplaces (www.qualidadecorporativa.com.br), in partnership with Germany’s Mensch&Büro Akademie (www.menschundbueroakademie.de), this course aims to prepare architects and industry professionals to create intelligent workplace designs that boost productivity through quality of life and employee well-being.

Sustainability Policy Workshop

The most innovative voices and actions on the global stage warn that we are witnessing a global crisis of the current consumerist and materialist paradigm. This crisis is political, scientific, technological, and educational. Faced with this reality, the need to trigger a paradigm shift arises. This change requires a true rupture in the theory of knowledge (epistemology) and in individual, social, and public (policy) practices.

Architectural Perspectives

Second panel discussion on architectural competitions in Brazil. This session will focus on the relationship between juries and criticism. The panel includes Fabiano Sobreira, Fernando Serapião, Helena Ayoub, and Luiz Recaman, with Jaime Solares as moderator.

Drifts through China

Our "drifts" return, this time to explore cities across the Pearl River Delta region, including Hong Kong and Guangzhou. We will be joined by various organizations, firms, and local friends who will share their expertise and insights into these cities. Participants include MaD (Make a Difference Asia), nose hk, the University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Public Space Initiative, and Design Trust.

In September, ArqCoop+ will host the ArqCircuito+ tour! The first neighborhood selected is Liberdade, which stands out for its successive phases of urbanization combined with a historical past that remains visible today in select buildings.

Structural Timber Analysis Course

A course on timber structural design, organized by the startup ELIGEMADERA and the IDIEM of the University of Chile.
The course features prominent national experts in timber design. Several instructors participated in the most recent committee for the modification of current national regulations, while others are part of the team that developed C+T, the first software for timber structural calculation in Latin America.

ELA Expo Lighting America is the annual meeting place for lighting professionals in Latin America.

City and Memory

On May 16 at 6:30 PM, Fraya Frehse, a professor in the Department of Sociology at USP, will deliver the final lecture of the "Planos: Diálogos em Arquitetura, Urbanismo e Design" (Plans: Dialogues in Architecture, Urbanism, and Design) series, hosted by the Professional Master's Program in Architecture, Urbanism, and Design at Belas Artes.
Focusing on the theme "City and Memory," Frehse will discuss her experience in anthropology and sociology at their intersection with history and urban studies. Her talk will highlight the relationships between the body, public space, and urbanization in São Paulo, specifically addressing how bodily uses of public places—particularly streets and squares—reveal the connections between city and memory in our city.
The lecture is free and open to the public, and will be held in the Sala Stadium at the institution's Unit 1. No registration is required to attend.

Tabasco Architecture Forum

    An architecture forum for students, architects, and the general public. This event offers the opportunity to explore the work and experiences of some of the country's most prominent architects. Additionally, attendees will have the chance to build professional connections through networking with leading figures in local and national architecture.

      Materia Arquitectura Magazine #17 Launch

      The seventeenth edition of Materia Arquitectura magazine, an editorial project by the Faculty of Architecture and Art at Universidad San Sebastián directed by Mario Marchant, revolves around two fundamental instances in architectural production: the studio and the office. This issue, featuring Claudio Palavecino as guest editor, proposes an examination of these two central spaces through three dimensions: place, agents, and production.

      Pascal Flammer Lecture | UC Master of Architecture

      Lecture by prominent Swiss architect Pascal Flammer as part of the second TES Workshop, which he will lead for the Master of Architecture program at UC. The lecture will be open to the public on October 11 at the Fernando Castillo Velazco auditorium. The final workshop presentation will take place on Friday, October 12, in the West Tunnel starting at 3:30 PM.

      ArqCircuito Mooca Worker's Village

      ArqCoop+, a cooperative of architects and urban planners, will host a walking tour through the streets of the Mooca neighborhood—one of the most traditional in São Paulo—on Sunday, September 16.

      Visoren Scholarship for the Master in Advanced Ecological Buildings

      Visoren, a company specializing in social rental housing, aims to promote ecological construction in residential buildings across Spain. To this end, it is offering two scholarships—one full and one partial—for the Master in Advanced Ecological Buildings organized by the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC), which begins in October 2018.

      Deadline extended for the 6th Docomomo Chile Seminar

      The VI Docomomo Chile Seminar: Heritage and Sustainability: From the City to the Territory, an event to be held in the city of Valdivia on November 14, 15, and 16, 2018, at the Isla Teja Campus of the Austral University of Chile, has extended its abstract submission deadline to June 25.

      BAQ2018: Social Habitat and Development Competition

      Since 1978, the Colegio de Arquitectos del Ecuador Provincial de Pichincha (CAE-P) has organized the Pan-American Biennial of Architecture of Quito (BAQ) every November of even-numbered years. It is considered one of the most important architectural events in the Americas. This call for entries fosters exchange, integration, comparison, and analysis of architectural and urban production, as well as the transfer of criteria and contemporary thought.
