The most innovative voices and actions on the global stage warn that we are witnessing a global crisis of the current consumerist and materialist paradigm. This crisis is political, scientific, technological, and educational. Faced with this reality, the need to trigger a paradigm shift arises. This change requires a true rupture in the theory of knowledge (epistemology) and in individual, social, and public (policy) practices.
In this scenario, the challenge is to promote a new culture of sustainability.
The starting point for this new perspective on sustainability will prioritize the common interest over sectoral interests, a transdisciplinary approach over the partial view of individual disciplines, and strong public-private collaboration for local and regional sustainable development. This requires changes in the traditional way of addressing problems, which implies new policies, renewed practices, and innovative ways of conceiving public, business, productive, and organizational strategies for the territory and its societies.
This course promotes a perspective on sustainability aimed at generating renewed concepts and actions. The proposal includes a complex perspective that encompasses:
- Responsible, ethical economic development compatible with the territory.
- Social equity and empowerment.
- Ecological and environmental care.
- Management capacity for the institutionalization of processes.
