"Cold" memories anchor Chinatown in its legacy of anti-displacement organizing and mutual aid traditions. "Hot" memories celebrate Chinatown as an everyday, dynamic, and active space. Together, these memories honour Chinatown's past while reminding us that Chinatown's story is still being written every day.

"The Heart of LA: Memories, Resilience, and the Road to Recovery" is a free public conversation about the LA fires and recovery for the region, moderated by architecture journalist Frances Anderton. This public forum will offer an opportunity to hear testimonials, mourn the community's losses, and have a constructive dialogue about rebuilding. Topics include short-term needs and long-term plans, the squeeze on housing supply, the role of fire insurance, and how the design community can help Los Angeles build back with wisdom and resilience. Architects, builders, advocates, and other experts will discuss and answer questions. (Additional speakers to be announced.)

MEDS Workshop 2025 Rijeka: The City of Textures The 14th edition of the MEDS Workshop will take place in Rijeka, Croatia. This year, the theme of the MEDS Workshop invites participants to dive into the stories and experiences of Rijeka, exploring its rich history, culture and dynamic present through its unique textures.
I-Park is soliciting applications for its fully funded General Residency Program. These onsite, multidisciplinary residencies are open to artists and designers working in the visual arts, creative writing, music composition, moving image, architecture, interdisciplinary practice and landscape design. The residency season runs from May 20 – November 24, 2025. All sessions are 4-weeks in duration except for the May session – 2-weeks.
The Theatre Architecture Competition (TAC), one of the three competitions during World Stage Design (WSD) 2025, is open for entries from students and emerging architecture practitioners worldwide. The School of Architecture at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) is now accepting applications for the 2025–26 Douglas A. Garofalo Fellowship. Named for the architect and educator Doug Garofalo (1958–2011), the nine-month fellowship provides emerging designers the opportunity to teach design studio and seminar courses and conduct independent research, culminating in a public lecture at the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts and an exhibition or public conversation at the school.
