MVCS Innovation Week 2022: Technological Transformation of Territory and Habitat

The Directorate of Innovation and Technological Development is a line agency responsible for contributing to the promotion of research, innovation projects, quality assurance, and technology development within Peru's Ministry of Housing, Construction, and Sanitation. The DIDT is tasked with formulating, disseminating, and executing programs, projects, activities, and both financial and non-financial instruments that facilitate innovation in areas under the Ministry's jurisdiction.

ZIV Women's Expo takes place at IED and Beco do Batman

Through March 31, ZIV Gallery is hosting Expo ZIV Mulheres, with activities taking place at Beco do Batman and the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) São Paulo, located in Higienópolis. The art exhibition brings together works by Brazilian artists and Afghan photographers. Throughout March, ZIV is also hosting a series of discussion circles covering topics such as violence against women, gender and identity, and the challenges faced by women.

SP Urbanismo, in partnership with the global network C40 Cities, has launched an international competition to select urban design projects for four underutilized public spaces in the city's central region. Open to architects, urban planners, and architecture and urban design firms from Brazil and abroad, the competition aims to gather innovative proposals to transform residual, underutilized road infrastructure into seating and leisure areas that are more inviting for pedestrians and the use of non-polluting transport, such as bicycles.

On Saturday, July 16, starting at 10:00 AM, the Fundação Bienal de São Paulo hosts the third meeting of the Open Pavilion 2022 program. The initiative aims to open the historic Ciccillo Matarazzo Pavilion—designed by architect Oscar Niemeyer and located within Ibirapuera Park—to the public, while offering free programming including dance workshops, children's activities, guided tours, and open discussions.

Launch of the 74th edition of the Mário de Andrade Library Journal at FAU Maranhão

The 74th edition of the Revista da Biblioteca Mário de Andrade features twelve articles analyzing the contemporary state of libraries. Launched in 1943 as the Boletim Bibliográfico da Biblioteca Municipal de São Paulo, it has been published as the Revista da Biblioteca Mário de Andrade since 1992. With the theme "The Library and the City," this issue was guest-edited by Francesco Perrotta-Bosch, biographer of Lina Bo Bardi.

Isolated Dialogues "The Craft: The Memory of the Hands" / Guillermo Acuña and Rolando Abarca

A conversation between architect Guillermo Acuña and master stonemason and historian Rolando Abarca will be part of a new session of "Diálogos Aislados" (Isolated Dialogues), a series organized by the School of Architecture at Universidad Finis Terrae. The series began during the pandemic to foster discussion on various topics, debates, and new ideas through multidisciplinary online dialogue.

São Paulo, 2022 – The launch event for the book Salvador Candia, Arquiteto will take place next Tuesday (August 16) at the headquarters of the Council of Architecture and Urbanism of São Paulo (CAU/SP). Authored by Eduardo Ferroni and published in partnership between the Stickel Foundation and Editora Monolito, the book commemorates the career of Campo Grande-born architect Salvador Candia, known for establishing an alternative path to Brazilian modern architecture from the 1950s to the 1990s. The significance of the architect's contribution to the field will be the focus of a discussion at the event between Eduardo Ferroni and the book’s editor-in-chief, Fernando Serapião.

With over 20 years of practice, the architecture firm MMBB has been developing a precise and consistent body of work. From their extensive portfolio, characterized by a wide range of uses, scales, and typologies, as well as a strong emphasis on the public dimension of architecture, eight projects were selected by editor Guilherme Wisnik for the most recent publication dedicated to the firm: the Arquitetos da Cidade (City Architects) Collection – MMBB, a partnership between the Escola da Cidade publishing house and Edições Sesc São Paulo.
