The exhibition by architect and academic Rubén Muñoz, titled "Light, Form, Act, and Symbol," presents a series of models alongside a catalog featuring three built works and three recent projects from his architectural practice. The exhibition seeks to enrich professional practice with reflections from the doctoral thesis that gives the exhibition its name.
In the words of Giuliano Pastorelli, it is an "open gaze that repeatedly pauses on what exists or what is found, collecting elements present in the local context—such as anonymous architecture, the domestic, or the everyday—to reinterpret them and transform them into architecture. Thus, the María Chapel and the El Llano house are structures that share a certain proximity to the austere wooden constructions of southern Chile. The typologies that Aldo Rossi defined as a long process of formal refinement are the subject of the project. The habitable plinth of the UCSC Student Services, the domestic shed at the María Chapel, the UBB Library gallery, or the corridor at the Mayulermo house are formal and spatial reinterpretations that cause our vision of the contemporary to oscillate... There is also a halo of intimacy and meticulousness in his craft. His work reflects this in the expressiveness and strength that matter and light acquire."
The opening of the exhibition will feature a conversation between the author and professor Giuliano Pastorelli, to be held on Tuesday, October 4, at 6:30 PM, in the exhibition hall of the Concepción Municipal Library.
