EXPO 2017 Legacy: What is Venue’s Future?

The International Specialized Exhibition Astana EXPO 2017 dedicated to Future Energy was an expositional and recreational event that took place between June 10 and September 10, 2017 in the capital of Kazakhstan. The exhibition lasted 93 days and became one of the most spectacular cultural venues of the year. Overall, 115 countries and 22 international organizations took part in the event.

As part of Astana EXPO 2017, global policy documents were drafted in order to promote an energy-efficient lifestyle and wide use of renewable energy sources.

Global Architectural Political Event Shanghai

“Global Architectural Political Events” are a series of public debates organised by Alejandro Zaera-Polo & Guillermo Fernandez-Abascal that continue the investigation about the political re-engagement of the discipline, as analysed in the essay “Well into the 21st Century” and the “Global Architectural Compass”.

Challenging the outlined categories, their relationships and their featured protagonists, the expected outcome of the series is a new iteration of the diagram. Chouteau Greenway International Design Competition

Great Rivers Greenway is leading a major public-private partnership to establish the conceptual plan for the Chouteau Greenway in St. Louis through this design competition. The goal of the project is to connect the areas of Washington University and Forest Park to Downtown and the Gateway Arch and Mississippi Riverfront. With spurs north and south and many other destinations along the way, the greenway will connect area neighborhoods, employment centers, parks, transit, and dozens of cultural and educational institutions.

The Avery Review, a journal of critical essays on architecture published by the Office of Publications at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation, invites submissions for its first-ever Essay Prize. The call is open to current students and recent graduates, whether in schools of architecture or elsewhere (eligibility details below). In keeping with the mission of the journal, we hope to receive submissions that use the genres of the review and the critical essay to explore the urgent ideas and problems that animate the field of architecture.
