20.10.20: Iwollo Oghe Memorial Police Station

This virtual charrette will commemorate the 2nd anniversary of the Lekki massacre of 20.10.20 by making a citizen-sensitive Police Station to replace the burnt one at Iwollo Oghe in Ezeagu LGA of Enugu State. A week after, a team of jurors will critique pulled from the police force, media, philanthropy will critique the work in a virtual exhibition open to the public.

Vienna Architecture Summer School 2022

The Vienna Architecture Summer School (VAS²) aims to provide an open learning space and prototypical infrastructure for the exchange and negotiation of knowledges in architecture, reaching beyond dominating institutions and mainstream discourses. The first edition of the VAS² invites local and international participants to exchange with young architects and established experts all practising in Vienna.

Camposaz _ Wood Self-Construction Workshop

The workshop will take place in Parco degli Olivi, a beautiful olive grove on the slopes of Mt. Brione, managed by the CasaMia Association, a foundation active since 1922 and dedicated to social inclusion for disadvantaged children and teenagers.
The intervention aims to equipe the space with furnishing elements for meetings and events. During the workshop, the participants will ideate and create wood installations, following the suggestions provided by the organizers and developing eco-friendly, practical and sustainable designs based on the relationship with the landscape and its inhabitants.

Camposaz: Wood Self-Construction Workshop

Camposaz has been invited to be a part of a much wider project called "Luoghi di Noi" held by INU Trentino. During the workshop the participants will ideate and create wood installations to host an exhibition about participatory planning.

Camposaz is a wood self-construction workshop in 1:1 scale with the ambition to promote interaction between disciplines and practitioners dealing with architectural design. The workshop is open to architects, designers, carpenters between 18 and 35 years of age. During the workshop, living in close contact, they have to design and physically construct small wood installations, based on specific themes, aiming at enhancing the landscape.

Training on Local tools for a fair and inclusive transition

The Eleventh Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF11) will take place in Katowice, Poland from 26 to 30 June 2022. Held every two years, the World Urban Forum is the premier global conference on urbanization convened by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat). It brings together a wide range of participants from around the world to discuss major urban challenges facing the world today.

In 2022, SA lab joined DigitalFUTURES community, sharing knowledge in fields of computational design and digital fabrication. DigitalFUTURES creates a series of free workshops and lectures to bring together the leading architects, thinkers and technologists from across the globe. SA lab partners, Stepan Kukharskiy and Alina Chereyskaya, will hold THE WORMHOLE GALLERY workshop.

CARAVANSERAI SUMMER SCHOOL: Ecological Restoration of Rural Architecture

After the pandemic and empowered by the climate crisis, a new wave of natural living style far away from the overpopulated cities raised all around the world and generated a return to the countryside, giving a new hope to the rural areas. Following the participative restoration philosophy of Depo Pergamon Workshops, the Caravanserai Summer School 2022 will promote a new model of ecological restoration for rural architecture based on a circular sustainable principle: Sun, Water, Soil, Straw, Dung, and Wood. These natural materials will be used for reviving the vernacular construction techniques in the restoration and renovation of the mud plaster surfaces and the rammed earth pavements of an old architecture complex to be reuse as a new generation caravanserai, a worldwide forgotten typology during the XXI century. To complete the conservation of the preexisting buildings, the original wooden flooring, ceilings and furniture will also be restored. All the work will be led by experts in vernacular architecture and building techniques.

Nowadays we facing a lot of different crises. All of our experiences over the last months have forced us to critically and profoundly re-evaluate our relationships with our friends, families and communities, our neighborhoods, our cities and our planet.
School invites participants from architectural, urban planning and other creative practices to analyze and decode an existing cityscape in order to develop new visions of future modern living.

The historic medieval cities of Kathmandu valley managed to create an urban legacy that was remarkable for its times, marked by sophisticated architectural expression in timber and brick, innovative water structures like hitis, wells, ponds and water spouts that formed strong community-level spaces along with urban level public square in form of Durbar Square right at the heart of the city. These expressions of buildings, water structures and public spaces are amongst the most refined and bold examples of an urban order anywhere in the world making the Kathmandu valley an open-air museum of historic architectures and cities.
