The Chicago Architectural Club (CAC) is pleased to announce the 2016 Chicago Prize Competition: On The EDGE. In partnership with the Chicago Architecture Foundation (CAF), a call for entries for the 2016 Chicago Prize is taking place as of November 29, 2016 with the announcement of the winning entries on February 2, 2017.
For this year’s Chicago Prize, the Chicago Architectural Club (CAC) is calling for visionary proposals for the Chicago’s Lakefront in consideration of the stated issues that imagine and speculate its scape.
The aim of the competition is the creation of a shared space along the border of the two countries through an architectural/design intervention.
The border must not remain a mere division between the two countries, but aim at rejuvenating the community life on both the sides by activating the public spaces in and around the design intervention.
It should educate people about the virtues of social and religious harmony and promote the mutual coexistence of friendship and peace between India and Pakistan.
It should propagate the message of peace and harmony through the dual language of art and architecture.

The 2017 edition of the BIM Competition offers candidates the opportunity to reflect on the center city of the community of Saint-Prix. Call for Submission: Place and Displacement - A Marketplace in Refugee Settlements
Challenge We challenge the innovative minds around the globe to design a marketplace with an operational plan for a vulnerable population (adolescents, single mothers, children, people with trauma, etc) in one of the refugee settlements below. The marketplace should be able to run for long-term, i.e. 3-5 years, and benefit as many people as possible. The overall budget limit for both construction and operation of the entire marketplace is $100,000.
Opportunity In light of the current surge of refugees in the international arena, refugee livelihoods in transitional settlements have become a crucial topic in contemporary geopolitical relations.
Young Architects Competitions YAC and Marlegno s.r.l. launch Castle Resort, an open architectural competition aiming at the landscape renewal of the area around the Castle off Roccamandolfi, in Southern Italy. The competition is in cooperation with the Italian State Property Agency – Italian Government, the Municipality of Roccamandolfi, Touring Club, Associazione Italiana Confindustria Alberghi, the University of Bologna. The internationally-renowned jury gathers, among the others, Eduardo Souto de Moura, Todd Saunders, Alain Laurens of “La Cabane Perchée”. A total of € 20.000 in prize money will be awarded and winner projects will be published on international architecture and design platforms.

The Alexander Thomson Society is pleased to announce an international ideas competition open to architects and students of architecture to celebrate the work of Alexander 'Greek' Thomson, one of Glasgow’s greatest nineteenth century architects. It is being launched to coincide with the Year of Architecture 2016 and culminates in 2017 by an exhibition of selected entries to mark the bicentennial of the architect’s birth. The exhibition will take place in The Lighthouse, Scotland's Centre for Design and Architecture, housed in a Charles Rennie Mackintosh designed building.
The Blue Clay Country Spa architecture competition, in partnership with SRED Global real estate developers, is tasking participants with presenting designs for a countryside guest house that would specialise in providing health treatments using this unique and naturally occurring organic product. Blue clay has long been used in restorative treatments, and provides health and beauty benefits in its naturally occurring form. Blue Clay has an exceptionally high mineral content and been used for centuries for medicinal purposes. Beer has always been a part of human history, from Ancient Egypt (where wages were paid in beer) to Ireland (where beer was the gods’ nectar of immortality), to name but a few examples. Drinking a glass of beer does not simply mean drinking a beverage, but interacting with a millennium-old history, made of legends, religious beliefs and wisdom.
